There is an TN count in MS. when the Count goes over 22ms or fluctate between low and high counts, than the Game stutters when you move. If the Count is stable and under 20ms it´s totally smooth. I have tested this more than two Hours yesterday. The good Thing is, when you see at the start of an Round the fluctation, you could easily restart the match make and hope for another Server. It´s not on our Side, it´s an Server Problem. Dice must fix this. TN means Time Nudge: This is an synchroniation interpolation Timer between Player -> Server -> Player and back.

I have started experiencing this on PC in the last week, since the recent patch, previously 200 hours of no issue and I have the same hardware and internet setup. I can be in a game playing happily and then the whole thing slows down to an absolute crawl. I die, obviously, and then eventually make it to the respawn screen. It's just happened this evening mid shot on a game of Rush, I checked my in game network stats, and I was hitting 1500 Time Nudge. Really sad, as it ruins the fun when it happens, I have to end task the game and when I restart, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I've added a screenshot of the what my in game graphs are displaying.

I am. Since Week 10 of Season 1. No issues on other games but constant stutter on BF2042. I don't even stutter on BF1 & BFV.

Stuttering still and game just froze. Ended in task manager. Why can't they fix this game? This is worse than the beta, even alpha.

The radio silence on this issue speaks volumes to me..I don’t personally think Dice will patch this issue in this iteration of the Frostbite engine now..

Maybe the next version of the Frostbite engine for the next BF title will have the issue sorted?

I’ve uninstalled 2042, i nip back to check the forums to see if there is any news re this issue, but i cant play it in its current state.

If a miracle happens and they sort this issue then i would reinstall and play.

If the next BF game is plagued by anything like all the issues with this version, then i wont be buying in. Once bitten....

The micro stutter issue exists for all...its present on all the gameplay videos released by EA and Youtubers. Some players are more sensitive to it than others , but the issue is there!
Dice / EA have really dropped the ball with this title.
I really hope they can learn and pull something special out with the next BF title.
    We'll see.

People with an m2 , nvme drive ! do they get their drive cooled enough? is there an heatsink set on it ?
    Messaeure your temps with https://crystalmark.info/en/software/crystaldiskinfo/
Maybe it get to hot and throttles/slows down!

Remember just a hint/tip not for everyone a solution , but maybe for some it will solve their issue!

@Rokebo73My Nvme isn't overheating...heatsink exists on it too!
This isn't a hardware issue, it's an issue with the game!.. Look at all the reports of this issue , complete with hardware specs and videos.
The only thing missing now is an acknowledgement of this issue from EA / Dice and one would hope a patch to cure it...
As I've said before, I don't think Dice will rectify this running issue in this version of the Frostbite engine...maybe in the next version for the next BF title..?

Well i can confirm I completely rebuilt my pc as wanted a different motherboard as the gpu clip snapped. I changed my ram and also change to a 13 series processor and fully water cooled build now temps are not high in the slightest 64GB of ram with an RTX4090…

oh just to add I also changed my SSD to be safe…

guess what…. The game still stutters.

you can even see it in their recent release trailer 🤣

Im done with this game, the micro stutters are just ridiculous! what a horrible piece of code glued together.

edit: this has 100% to do with the TN count that is shown ingame. Whenever I start to stutter the value goes up in the +25s (even had a max of 111).

Also, if I join a custom portal server (close to my region, ~16ms), the TN count stays mostly low (under 15, no stuttering at all). When it occasionally stutters the TN count goes back to very high for a minor moment.

Fix your servers DICE. This is no hardware issue on our side. Your servers are just horrible!

Just look at this forum now, its full of lag / stutter posts and still no acknowledgement from Dice / EA about this issue.

This is a game issue that just isn't being sorted by the developer.

We're a year down the road with this game and IMHO i dont think the developer is going to rectify this issue with this version of the Frostbite engine.

Maybe in the next version which the next BF title will be released using?

    Time will tell.

@Rockumo It’s an issue with the game! This latest update today has not fixed it either. I wouldn’t worry about it as dice are not going to acknowledge it. I would move over to modern warfare if I was you. That has some bugs but at least they tend to get addressed!

@NightHawkk1997 thats the thing i think its a problem whit theyr server host and other games i play that use the same server provider as bf 2042 have the same issue but its more rare. Hope MW2 has diferent servers
  • Nice, prob noone has this problem anymore just me as no new reports are posted in this topic
  • What I am sseing that this problem occurs for me only on the new map in conquest mode 64/64. Same map in portal no problem. Anyone has made the same experience?

I'm having the same issue. This game runs like *.

    RTX4090

    5800X3D

    32GB

    x570 MSI gaming plus

Installed on a Adata xpg8200pro (good one) m2 drive or samsung 860 ssd

Stuttering stuttering and stuttering. I have freshly windows installed a month ago. Downloaded the drivers from msi's website. Updated the bios. No luck. All games rune fine.

/edit; a lot of packet loss. ordered three new switches.

The game has been running fine until today.. Now I've started to get micro stutter in game and also had it crash to desktop mid game. I've changed nothing and this has only just started happening.

What do you think could be causing it?

Dices DX12 implementation hasn't been good. It wasn't good on the previous Battlefield games where DX12 was an option.. Never ran well on previous BF titles when chosen compared to the DX11 option.

Compare PC BF2042 gameplay clips on Youtube to PS5 gameplay... The smoothness of gameplay on PS5 is worlds apart from the PC version. Its a real shame that Dice cant improve the the  laggy / intermittent stuttery PC gameplay to match the smoothness of the PS5.

@raverill  On PC they´ve decided to ignore MS recommend best practise for DX12 apps and compile shader stuff during playing, instead on app startup ( recommended by MS ).

    @FlakstarYes...and spoils the game.
    Poor QC from the Devs...
Won't be buying the next title if this issue isn't sorted.

The difference this makes is evident when you see the title running on the PS5...worlds apart smooth gameplay!
