Re: BF2042 CPU Running At 100% Constantly For No Reason

I got this PC

CPU : Ryzen 5 5600x

GPU : RTX 3070

My GPU usage never goes above 70% and because of that the FPS and the Performance are really bad. In BF5 i got 150+ fps all the time but in 2042 i only get 50-70 fps.

My GPU frames are about 110-140fps but my CPU frames are about 50-80, i can see them with the "command perfoverlay.drawfps 1"

The funny thing is, none of my cores go over 80% usage. So theoretically there is no CPU bottleneck, but the CPU bottlenecked hits my GPU very extremely.

    same issue here:

    Ryzen 5 3600 and Geforce RTX2070 /Super.

    CPU usage at around 60-70%

    GPU usage at 50%

which results in an effective 50-70FPS.

I can push the GPU usage to 100% when setting the render scale to 200% but CPU usage never exceeds 75%

    I have same issue.

    RTX 2080 / i7 8700k 5Ghz.

    RAM 16GBs

I was expecting my aging CPU to get shredded, but instaed both GPU and CPU stay around 60-80% most of the time. Sometimes dropping even lower to 50% each. Now I remember we had exact same problem when BF5 launched. It was fixed by enabling Future Frame Rendering, and sometime later Windows 10 got a patch that fixed DX12 option so we could use that instead. Now I tried using FFE, but the performance doesn't change, and usages stay the same.

Now there is no DX12 option in the game settings, but there is one in user settings. You can find it in the documents / BF2042 / settings / PROFSAVE_profile. Try changing it to "1", maybe that will help you in some way.

yeah i tried this directx12 fix and it gets a little bit better. Framerate stays above 72FPS now but its still not using the full power of my hardware.
