- @KAcidi That's awesome! I am glad that my guide is helping some like you and others. I'm sorry for the ones that are still having issues.
Seems after removing my 2 back up SSD game did launch. Did keep ,1NVMe and 1 HDD.
I removed all my other drives except for my NVMe with Windows and BF - it finally launches! Nothing else has worked so far.
I unisntalled it from my HDD and installed it on my C:/ drive so it now gives me the screenshotted error with htios link now:

yourphone.exeYo, so at least in my case, what's disabling your game from starting is lightingservice.exe. I have to stop the service every time I play 2042 as the game detects it as a hack. There may be other services like that too, but for me, that's it. Sucks that we can't have RGB working just to play this game, so I hope they fix it. Hope this helps.
I still can't open and play on my main PC, I feel its the anti cheat detecting some program is a cheat and stopping it, but haven't figured out what. I don't have Lightingservice.exe as previous mentioned. So its not that
The game does load completely on another PC I have but its not my main gaming PC, so annoying. weeks and weeks later and still not fixed. Thank s EA
So this randomly started happening to me on Saturday having had no issues of this kind since early access. Now having spent the best part of 5 hours trying to get this to work I'm at my wits end.
Any advice would be gratefully received. dxdiag is attached.
Frankly I have a plethora of errors when trying to fix this, but the first error I was getting was "no qt platform plugin could be initialized", I have had a lot of the game simply not launching after the splash screen and another launch error of "The requested operation requires elevation" as well as "Too many computer have access this account's version of Battlefield 2042 recently. Please try again later"
Here are all of the things I've tried:
- Clean install of latest Nvidia drivers
- Run as admin (BF2042 executable)
- Run as admin (Origin executable)
- Run as admin (EA App executable)
- Relocated BF2042 to same SSD as EA app and Origin are on
- Uninstalled BF2042, EA app, Origin app and fresh install to same SSD.
- Cleared Origin & EA app cache
- Performed clean install of Origin
- Uninstalled EA app and tried to run via Origin only
- Create new Windows account
- Ensure 'owner' of folders is correct (Windows Security settings)
- Disabled Windows game mode
- Disabled all overlays (Discord, OBS etc.)
- Made sure I had up-to-date C++ Redist Packages
- Checked 2042 game files were correct (via origin repair function)
- Tried a clean boot
- Repaired Easy Anti Cheat
- Ran Windows System File Check
- Used DISM to repair Windows 10 image
- Added BF2042 and all of the Origin executables to exceptions for Windows Firewall
- Checked windows update
- Tried turning on windows ransomware protection
- Deleted the 2042 folder from documents
- "Reinstalled" DirectX
- Killed Lightingservice.exe in Task Manager
- Disabled VPN
Thanks.
EDIT: Turns out NordVPN's recent update (6.41.11.0) seems to be conflicting in some way. Disconnecting your VPN is not enough, you need to close the app and then check Task Manager and kill any lingering processes there.
