- @MercysLegion You can limit your CPU processor count by creating a user.cfg file in the game’s main folder and using these commands. The config below is for quad-cores with Hyper Threading (4 cores, 8 threads). You can change these values to your liking:
Thread.ProcessorCount 4
Thread.MaxProcessorCount 4
Thread.MinFreeProcessorCount 0
Thread.JobThreadPriority 0
GstRender.Thread.MaxProcessorCount 8"
I tested this and it works wonder Many average folk don't know how to do that so might want to warn others of the High CPU usage for this season right now.
@TTv_TrackeRWill you provide the script for an 8 core 16 process processor, so I don't screw anything up? I have an I9 9900K. I want to use half for BF.
Thanks!!- @TTv_TrackeR I don't need the script settings any longer, but thanks anyway. I posted a temp fix...
U guys just don't understand. You need a threadripper to run this game even a 5900x is being utilised 100% just let that sink in. Why u ask , its probably because when you're developing a game you don't just slap assets and animations together hoping it would work
- @Fraginstein Thread.ProcessorCount 8
Thread.MaxProcessorCount 8
Thread.MinFreeProcessorCount 0
Thread.JobThreadPriority 0
GstRender.Thread.MaxProcessorCount 16
you must place it like this - @TTv_TrackeR Thank you!
- direct3r3 years agoSeasoned Ace@TTv_TrackeR so I could not give up with my problems of heavy mouse input delays and tried your user.cfg...
and it works!
while the default one does not work (like having none), nor my old one , this does somehow, the only difference to mine is I did not have the gstrender line and also set maxprocessorcount to 16(for 8core/16logical cores machine) When will we be able to play calmly, without fear that our processor will explode at any moment? Im with 13700kf, the new intel processor.... EA will answer us?
- AOD_Mikezilla3 years agoNew Scout@TTv_TrackeR So, I have a Ryzen 7 5800x which 8 cores and 16 threads.
Thread.ProcessorCount 8
Thread.MaxProcessorCount 8
Thread.MinFreeProcessorCount 0
Thread.JobThreadPriority 0
GstRender.Thread.MaxProcessorCount 16
Should I use this format or change something?
Does this file go into the documents/bf2042 or the installation folder? - Rokebo733 years agoSeasoned Ace
Info about the User.cfg file.
In what location and a example for settings in this user.cfghttps://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Season-3-CPU-Issue/m-p/12088154#M37399

Hey @Rokebo73,
What is the meaning of this post exactly? 🙂 Posting a link without any context can be picked up by the Spam filter, just as a heads-up. - @EA_Leeuw It’s to a post about how to do the “user.cfg” edit for CPU

@RiggletsTTV, I know where the link links to 😉, but posts like those can be picked up by the Spam filter.
Regarding editing your settings file: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Season-3-CPU-Issue/m-p/12091588#M37349. Ryzen 5900X at stock frequency
RTX 3080
all watercooled
runs really smoother, slightly more power consumption but cpu load is at 40-50% and temperature is better than before the user.cfg
Thread.ProcessorCount 12
Thread.MaxProcessorCount 10
Thread.MinFreeProcessorCount 0
Thread.JobThreadPriority 0
GstRender.Thread.MaxProcessorCount 16mouse input lag is also better but not gone yet
- Rokebo733 years agoSeasoned Ace
@Devil_pwns_uanmd if ya lower the Thread.MaxProcessorCount 10 a bit more ? then still mouse lag ?
this could help ya for now
https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Season-3-CPU-Issue/m-p/12088154#M37399
user.cfg where to put it , and how to edit, find out how much threads your cpu got ! @Rokebo73my CPU is a 12 Core / 24 Threads CPU
max CPU Threads with 10 is ok. Input Lag is from time to time. before the User.cfg it was even worse.

Hey everyone,
We have sent out a new tweet: https://twitter.com/BattlefieldComm/status/1597961285303668737.
Just as an FYI for everyone, these settings worked for me:
Thread.ProcessorCount 8
Thread.MaxProcessorCount 6
Thread.MinFreeProcessorCount 0
Thread.JobThreadPriority 0
GstRender.Thread.MaxProcessorCount 6The keyboard lag (which was the most noticeable issue for me), is almost completely gone for me. CPU load is still at full 100%, running at around 4.7GHz (overclocked), but doing fine. I suppose I could lower it one more for even better performance, but this is already very playable for me.
- Rokebo733 years agoSeasoned Ace@Shade01982 good job , but indeed , you should give other processes also some cores/threads !!
Thread.ProcessorCount 8 <-- no need, bf2042 detects your ammount of cores/threads
Thread.MaxProcessorCount 6
Thread.MinFreeProcessorCount 0
Thread.JobThreadPriority 0
GstRender.Thread.MaxProcessorCount 6 <-- (also with threads?)
keep testing ! it will improve performance for whole system during gameplay ! - @Rokebo73 The rest of my computer seems to have no issues with this whatsoever though. At first I still had a VM running (which I initially thought was the cause of this).
- @EA_Leeuw Thanks for keeping us in the loop regarding this crippling issue
- Rokebo733 years agoSeasoned Ace
Only the low end systems/cpu got a problem with this cpu issue,
cause its just hard for those systems to run with the limited cores/threads and mem specs !!
The user.cfg is a help for those people and their systems !!!!
Till the fix in early Dec. will be released!
5900X is low end?
- Rokebo733 years agoSeasoned Ace@BattleBuddy2012 ho sorry dude , i didnt set a name of anyone !
It can be more then cpu allone, it could be a combo of specs from system, CPU / MEM / GPU , configuration , Hz , OC , ect ect ect ect
But if ya got some troubles then there is something to check at configuration from hardware or the hardware it self !!!
Cheers, dont get me wrong !
