Sorry - dxdiag from a windows 10 & 11 install attached
- Rokebo733 years agoSeasoned Ace@steakmane hmmm weird,
you should test youre memroy modules each one apart from each other.
Test with 1 bank and check what happens witf oc profiles and during use of system / game.
No error , then try 2nd module, ect ect ect !
If there is a broken memory module , then it could get issues to !
Update us after ya tested all modules .
Cheers All DIMMS pass memtest86 individually ☹️
Hello,
Have you had any luck?
I have the exact issues you have mentioned - BF2042 and other DX12 games with the same error messages.
No luck yet. I've tried different memory and video cards in addition to all the software troubleshooting. Nest step is to RMA the motherboard :/

Could it be that the drivers did something to the motherboard?
- Rokebo733 years agoSeasoned Ace@steakmane do not test memory with software , prime95 ect ect ect.
just use one memory bank at a time and try to run the game !
Test each memory module aparty from each other in bf2042 !
Update us ! Me to same problem
- @steakmane Brother i have found the fix for you. Me too had same problem i've been trying to find the fix for past week and finally got it. For me it was the pagefile size.
I had 9900k and rx6900xt with 16gb ram. When i do this, ALL crash and errors gone.
https://mcci. com/support/guides/how-to-change-the-windows-pagefile-size/ I have 64GB of system memory, even increasing the pagefile to 200GB will not help.
I've also replaced the motherboard with the same model, same problem. Going to replace the CPU next since it's the only thing left!
- Rokebo733 years agoSeasoned Ace@steakmane if ya replace CPU , make sure memory is compatible with the "new" cpu. Check QVL for supported mem at this cpu !
Cheers Hey everyone, just sharing an update. I purchased a new i9 13900K and installed it yesterday, and so far that seems to have solved all of my issues. I'm able to play the game now which I couldn't even launch before. I got a random DX device removed error, but aside from that it's been smooth sailing. Looks like the processor I had originally was a total lemon. Intel support is being very helpful, and looks like they will refund me for the defective processor. If you have an intel i9 13900K with S-Spec SRMBH and batch# X246J536, it may be worth reaching out to intel for a replacement.
Thank you to everyone who replied to my thread with your suggestions, most were very helpful. Cheers!
- @steakmane Thanks for the update.
Did you stress test the CPU before? If yes, were the tests successful or did you get any errors?
And your errors completely gone now? - @iElessar For me the deciding factor was trying again to run the game bypassing the video card, and using the onboard intel integrated graphics which is in on the i9 chip. (Intel UHD 770 Graphics) After doing this, I was greeted with insane artifacting shown here: https://streamable.com/tdplfb, which convinced me the problem was the CPU.
Stress tests and benchmarks all worked fine, even running memtest for days in parallel mode didn't cause a problem.
I played the game for 4 hours straight without crashing last night after replacing the CPU, so far I'm in the clear. And I should further mention/make clear my issues were not isolated to 2042, it affected all games running DX12 and even crashed some that were DX11. So bad CPU was the root cause here.
- @steakmane
Ok this is promising in narrowing down the culprit. I have similar artifacts throughout the same (sky glitters, funny hair on character, weapons and reflections are smooth).
I will try the iGPU for a while and see if the issue exists.
And yea, other games have issues as well. Hogwarts Legacy, CODMW2 don’t work at all.
Thank you for the update. - @iElessar No prob, best of luck.

@steakmane, cheers for mentioning it here. Sorry to hear about your CPU. would you mind outlaying the steps to test this issue? how did you bypass the video card?
Have the same problem, sky glitter in BF2042 only but overall BIG problem with DX12 and so on, have stress tested all components and everything is fine but the CPU. Seems like someone else here talked about. Batch of i9 13900k is the problem. Reseller told me they have had A LOT of people with this problem. Stress tested CPU yesterday and there is no doubt that the CPU is performing odd. Core Voltage is super high and Throttling within seconds under stress test.
New CPU incoming! PSU should also be checked. I tested IGPU and there is 100% the same problem so GPU is not the problem I'm very sure of that. That's also why we are like 1000 people on the Internet with this problem and no one knows how to fix it, that's because we all think it's a GPU problem when it clearly is the CPU.Have same problem and after have done everything and checked whole PC it's now clear to me that CPU was the problem. I'm about to get a new one to so I just pray it will work this time but I'm so sure i can be that this is CPU related. You still going on without problem right ?
do you mind, sharing your steps on how you found out which batch was problomatic and in turn which batch your cpu was? i somehow need to provide proof to retailer but the issue being so spesific is hard.
