Packet Loss BF2042

Since EA Support can't be bothered to send a reply to the 3 requests Ive sent on the issue, I figure Id post here.

I'm lucky to play 1 game out of 10.  When I get in I get severe packet loss.  Its basically 10 seconds good, 10 seconds bad.  Like a regular heartbeat.  The in game graphs show this to me along with the packet loss in indicator.   On occasion when it gets real bad, I get a DirectX error about GPU hung up.   I have no problem with other games, external testing for packet loss shows nothing. Even BF6 works flawlessly.    Its only this game.  Ive tried every fix and suggestion at this point.  So my only thought is either the game is trash or the severs are trash.

  • Hi KanaWolf
Sorry to hear you're having a problem.
Could you send a DxDiag file to see your material :

Press the Windows and R keys at the same time.
Type DxDiag in the window that appears, then click Save all information and save the file wherever you want.
Then drag and drop the file here, then click Share - add the .txt file as an attachment.

    Let me know 😉

Here it is but I can't imagine anything in here will help.  Also I've tired pretty much everything that has been asked of others still no go.  Plus why would it work sometimes, and others not?   To me it really sounds like a server issue on their end.

Bios has xmp prof1.   Also haven't tried the 12.5.1 driver for AMD yet either.

Manoluuux, thanks for posting that!  I checked my DRAM settings and sure enough it was set as 2133 instead of 3600, enabling XMP seemed to smooth out the game play.  Still some server issues, SFT goes up or TN goes up and the server tick drops down to 40.

Did you get a chance to look at my Dxdiag?   Any thoughts?

    Thank you for your patience.
Can you try creating a “user.cfg” file in your game installation folder, then enter these commands in it:

    Thread.MaxProcessorCount 6
    Thread.MinFreeProcessorCount 0
    Thread.JobThreadPriority 0
    GstRender.Thread.MaxProcessorCount 12

    Like this :

Then save the file and start your game.
    Let me know 😉

user.cfg made and tried.   No change.   I'm still convinced it has something to do with their servers.   I can get into a game, and get not PL, and then run fine for 10 or more games.  Other times, its PL, new game Pl, new game PL.    It makes no sense.
