Re: DirextX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG
@EA_AticThe game worked without any crashes until yesterday. Since then it repeatedly crashes to desktop with no apparent error. It freezes, then it vanishes. Today however I alt-tabbed when it froze and got to see the actual error - the dxgi error invalid call error. This disappeared within seconds along with the game.
I haven't got Windows 10's latest feature update of 21H2. I have disabled the Steam Overlay, but can't disable the Origin Overlay which is forced on for the Steam version of the game. Otherwise all my drivers are up to date. I haven't updated anything on my side, I checked Windows Update, in the last few days though so this very much seems to have been somehow triggered by something done server side.
My friend who just bought the game is experiencing the same issue. He unplugged his HTC Vive VR headset so it prevented the bug at launch, but then the error still happened midround. It happened to us while we playing Portal this time. I noted that my 9900KS CPU got to 93 degrees which is a little unusual under the Noctua NH D15, and 100% utilization on CPU #1. My GPU reached 72 degrees.
My 2080TI ASUS Strix is running in the default Gaming Mode.
I have already turned off Flow Control for BF2042.exe
However, what I did now that let me play is I went into Virus & Threat Protection Settings > Manage Settings > Turn OFF Real-Time Protection. This has to be done regularly since it turns itself back on. I'll test further and let you know if it crashes despite this setting being disabled.
