- Why don't video cards recognize errors themselves? We have to do a long questionnaire that we usually don't have the patience to answer.
So AMD in particular released a driver (21.11.3) because the GPU was in fact recognizing a driver crash that caused this same error message. Since that driver update, now the driver isn't actually crashing but the error remains. I'm just glad to see I'm not the only one. I upgraded from a 1080ti to a 6900XT and I regret it because that old GPU didn't get the error. It seems to only be current gen hardware with issues.
Also is it possible EasyAntiCheat has anything to do with the crashing? The game is clearly failing to render something. I've done the following:
Updated Direct X
repaired/updated .net framework
Reseated GPU and Ram
Turned off XMP profile
Used RAGE mode on my 6900XT to give it higher power usage and better fan curve
Updated to the latest driver (21.12.1)
Changed all sorts of settings in windows and the game that guides have suggested
Added the game to high performance profiles in windows.
Reformatted windows even.
Nothing fixes this error. My game runs pretty damn smooth when it's not crashing thanks to the guides people have made, but I can hardly finish a game ever. It's driving me nuts because I really enjoy playing this game till it crashes.
@Heroxoot Wrong, have mates with 1080Ti's that have this errors, also 3090, 980Ti and 3080Ti,. This is a wide spread issue, this thread alone is proof of that, read the pages and see for your self.
OT: On the issue of this error: it's not the games job to report that the GPU is not responding, thats the drivers job, and when the game reporting is clearly wrong, since driver is running just fine, this must be dialed back 10 fold... Imagine if an benchmark like 3Dmark reported this on stock stable systems, it would be updated/removed in a day... I suspect that some DX12 features in this game are being done by CPU, and when limited gamethreads are overloaded by netcode and physics, the responses are queued/delayed and this failed to respond message occures.
BF games have years old forumthreads with the exact same error, so as I have said before, this is a Frostbyte+DirectX coding/design error. If a computer is unstable, let the game freeze and computer crash, do not halt on an error that is false 99% of the times. A driver from Nvidia or AMD cannot fix a game reporting a false error, period, only Devs can do that..
Probably 0.1% of those that are getting this error are reporting it in official forums like this one, and are just blaming it on the "beta" game, and starts the game again and plays to the error pops up again. If the actual correct number of people reported this, this thread wold be tousands of pages long, not 50ish..
What I have done to avoid this error is to force my CPU to work on maximum performace all the time during the game by forcing BF2042 on high CPU priority, the GPU 6900XT, is hardly being used at all, infact ingame I'm 30-60% away from max watt load on GPU, at ca. 200w or lower, compared to other games that goes to 325w..

******ATTENTION -> Possible solution <- ATTENTION******
Yesterday I already addressed the topic of possible data that are stored in the background !
Please follow these instructions - I will do more testing to find the exact problem !
1. Windows + P = Select only 1 monitor
2. Close all of your Internet Explorer windows
3. Clear cache. For this, close Origin!
Then Windows + R , write %ProgramData%/Origin and hit OK. Delete then LocalContent
Next step again Windows + R , write %AppData% and hit OK. And click on APPDATA on the top.
Go to the local folder and delete the Origin folder there.
Then restart you complete System! Start Origin, now he should do a small update. And then Start your Game!
It had helped me. I've tried everything on the Internet and came up with this idea yesterday. Please let me know if it helped you! Press the XP button if it helped you please
EDIT: After i turn my 2nd monitor on and played the Game, the Crash was back. Before with single Monitor 5Games no problems! I watched in this files:
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Battlefield 2042\CrashDumps with WinDbg
Maybe its something with Denuvo?
- TanKinG874 years agoNew Rookie@datacrash i will give it a try! BUT.....after i changed settings to Single Monitor...no crash....crazy. I will write later, if it's really fixed!
Guys! Just downclock your RAM and GPU, you bought it for hard earned money to just stress-check EAs end. And nothing wrong on EAs end!
I already have.
What makes you think this is not ea's problem?
Then EA should possibly inform in the hardware requirements that certain hardware is excluded.

Yo...4 real....the problem is my 2nd Monitor! Can't believe it....Windows + P = Single Monitor = no problems. Activate the 2nd and i got GetDeviceRemovedReason *!
I don't remember having a second monitor connected when I had crashes, but it is a possibility.
I do have a TV connected on HDMI, but usually I turn it off (show only on 1).
However, I haven't any crashes in a while.
I re-installed Nvidia driver
Deleted the game and re installed
Turned off High-Performance under energy consumption on Nvidia settings
Turned off OC on GPU
I have second monitor turned off (Not sure if I had it on when crashes happened)
I am now gonna test again with OC GPU (OC from fabric Xtreme 3080) and see if it crashes.
- Purrfect894 years agoNew Traveler@TanKinG87 what about us who does not have more than 1 monitor :D
- TanKinG874 years agoNew Rookie@Purrfect89 did you follow my steps with the Chace? This problem is so crazy :D so many different systems and problems
@TanKinG87 I test all thing, Windows + P solo screen and still crash after 5 min and try your folder delete before that .
This is terrible 1 week after same issue...
@LowtechRUS I actually tried this and it didn't help.

Damn ☹️
I would like to help you, but I'm slowly getting stuck. Just have to know your system and via TeamViewer. But I already needed + 4 hours for me ☹️
And dont forger after you try a fix, every time...restart your PC. If you dont do it, u cant be 100% sure if its work! - Purrfect894 years agoNew Traveler@TanKinG87 Well described steps i did like many weeks ago before you even posted (found it somewhere on the internet related to another issue) already and did not have any difference. I tried already everything i could possibly find anywhere on the web, these so called fixes etc will buy me just limited ammount of time, then it will crash again 🙂 Most effective seems to underclock gpu and overshoot the voltage to the max, but thats not fix at all as i did not buy this beast to run it on 70-80% of stock performance with that ammount of voltage and yet it will crash again eventually.
FML HAHA this is NOT a solution this is not working.. Yes you guys think it works for some hours maybe days before you again notice this is NOT the cause. Like I was saying before this is a update fail it's the GPU drivers that causes this problem and nothing else that's a fact.
