Last time i tried the game was like few weeks after release. Then i found out if i artificially limit my gpu by 50% i can play for like an hour and with poor performance.

Not acceptable to me, waiting for the fix but losing interest over time.

Enjoyed World War 3 public test however, great bf like game. 

Was pretty vigilant for awhile on this thread and all over the internet to look for solutions. Haven’t tried in weeks. I have fun with the game, it’s just super discouraging to try everything and nothing works. No solutions, no news. I mean, this thread is almost 80 pages deep and it’s not even pinned. I’m just waiting for someone to tell me it’s fixed so I can try again. But it sucks cause I got this game to play with my bro and cousins and they all run it fine. I’m afraid by the time it’s fixed, they’ll be disinterested or the game will be dead

Yeah there is clearly something wrong here with how the game utilizes the GPU. This crash & error will appear if your GPU is overclocked, even slightly. This also applies with factory OC cards (which is insane).

This is my current setup:

Core i7-11700

ROG Strix RTX 3080Ti 12GB (non-OC)

16GB RAM

3440x1440 @ 100MHz

Vsync ON

If I run BF2042 with stock settings, around >1mV@1905MHz (no overclock or undervolt), the game runs "fine". Does not crash, just have the usual erratic FPS. 

Vsync caps the FPS to 100, but still then the FPS tends to drop below. GPU runs HOT & Loud with stock settings, reaching 75 C while gaming.

This is why I usually undervolt all my GPUs. So that my card runs quiet & cool while gaming, my current monitor does not allow more than 100 FPS anyways.

If I apply an undervolt profile in Afterburner. Say .850@1700Mhz or if I just apply a Power Limit below 100%. The game WILL crash after just 5-10 mins of gametime.

I tested this profile in benchmarks (Superposition, Heaven, TimeSpy) and games (BF1, BF4, BFV and Cyberpunk 2077) and had no issues whatsoever. All games ran smoothly.

What is weird is that during BETA and the november release, my setup was different (i7-8700K & ROG Strix 1080Ti - also undervolted)  and the game ran just fine, no crashes at all. So this could be an issue with newer cards?

There is no way I am running BF2042 at stock GPU settings, the card runs too hot for my liking. I either need to find a stable undervolt profile or just stop playing the damn game until EA/DICE optimizes the code to run properly with GPUs.

I'm now getting the DXGI error!!!!  BF2042 was running perfectly without any issues and then yesterday, entirely out of the blue, I got the error DXGI and now the game crashes with this error during loading.

I've updated drivers, installed older drivers, run Windows Update , run sfc /scannow, underclocked GPU, checked graphics card is seated correctly, deleted and reinstalled BF2042 and reinstalled .Net Framework but nothing works.

OS: Win 11 64-bit

CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X

GPU: MSI RX6800XT

Memory: Corsair Vengence LPX 32GB (2x16GB) @ 3600 MHz

Storage: Corsair NVMe , both Origin and Battlefield are installed on this drive

MOBO: ASUS ROG Croshair VIII Hero

I tried a Radeon RX 6600XT in my PC in place of the 6800 XT and there was no Direct X crash, the game loaded and was playable.  With the DirectX crash I couldn't even load the game.

Since the 6600 XT draws less power than the 6800XT I thought maybe the PSU was not delivering enough peak power so I swapped out a 750W for a better 850W PSU, it made no difference with the 6800 XT and I still got the crash.  Then I tried a Radeon RX 6900XT (alongside the new PSU) and so far after a some quick testing there are no crashes.

Its odd that I got 180 hours of seamless game play before the 6800 XT decided to cause issues or something upset it, it's now being RMA'd.

All 3 of the cards have a Boost clock. Even under clocking the 6800XT didn’t sort it.  It’s just odd the game played perfectly well through every game update and every driver update and then suddenly stopped working without any changes having been made.

The RMA on that card is pointless, its not your hardware.

The device hung is a very common error for DX12, happens in HLL if running DX12 as the game is unstable, its happened in SOTR (before Nvidia fixed it with a driver), basically, game is just buggy, until they can replicate it they wont fix it. Its either a driver issue or a Dice issue, not sure which, maybe a bit of both.

I have had that error twice in my playing, but for past 3 weeks I have not had a DX12 crash (with that error anyway), it could be anything at this point. Just needs some TLC from Dice to look into it and at least give us a "we found an issue, we are looking at it" instead of the pure silence we get.

It makes no sense as to why the game would run fine on two different Radeon cards but not the 6800 XT.  With people reporting so many bugs it easy to blame the game but what's the explanation for me getting 180 hours of game play without issue, the error suddenly occurring when nothing had been updated or changed and the game running fine with the other cards? 

I hope it doesn't work when they test it and they refund me - I need the refund to offset the cost of the 6900XT!!!!!!!   :-)

Failing that it's still got the original box so I'll sell it online.

New AMD 22.2.2 driver is promising.  Not only does it seem smoother especially flying the little bird that was laggy before even at 720p but the game hasn't crashed yet without limiting GPU clock to 80%.  Will continue to monitor and update.

Disregard.  Still crashes but does run smoother.

Card has been tested and confirmed as faulty, now returned to manufacturer for "repair".   With the faulty card I couldn't even get past the loading screen without the GXGI crash..   

Reducing GPU clocks/power to 90% seems to fix the DirectX crashes.

Game didn't crash for several hours with all background services on (no clean-boot), Nvidia Shadow play on, Nvidia overlay on.

Didn't work for me, card was faulty.  Players should make absolutely sure it isn't their hardware as right now it is easy to blame the game.

Btw, I realized I didn't reduce the power limit, just reduced the gpu clocks by -22MHz (-1%) - and that solved my directx crashing issue. 1080Ti - 1924 MHz now.

Game is broken and runs terribly even at 720p on a high end system.  Fact that it crashes on both Nvidia and AMD GPUs shows that it's an issue with the game.

I originally lowered the usage down to 85%, but the crashing started up again so now I’m at 70%.

I’m curious if this game could be ruining peoples graphics cards or is this a far fetched idea?

I had the same thought about the game doing something to my graphics card, 180 hours without issue and then constant DX crashes during loading to the extent the game would not load at all..

I used to be at 85%, just the thought of having to * your GPU to play a newly released AAA game... But that's for another time.
Now I am running it stable for at least a couple of matches on 80% with the 22.2.1 driver for AMD. 
22.2.2 crashes immediately no matter the downclocking. 22.2.3 was released yesterday, I have not tried that yet. 

Just imagine if someone could confirm or deny if this was being worked on.
