Re: EA anticheat error 116

Have the same exact same thing - I've been battling with it for the past week. I would add to Your list

- cleaning with DISM++

- validating Secure Boot

- disabling Bitdefender

- updating drivers

For me it all started with Season 6 update and endless validating loop in Steam - when I've managed to fix that ( via EA App repair app ) I've got the dreaded Error 116

I have already tried all the given solution but nothing works.

Surprisingly my machine is brand new/a week old and I am still facing issue.

Its sad that almost a 2 weeks later there no solution for this ☹️

Facing exact same issue! Just got the game and can't get it to work... No answer from nor solution from EA as well. Probably gonna refund this...

Below thing Solved it for me!!! 
I had been facing this issue for a quiet while from the launch of bf2042 season 6. 

Finally I decide to reset windows but Instead of whole Reset thing (i.e. wiping whole C drive) in windows settings I opted for reset Windows but keep apps and data files. I assume this only resets all the factory setting of windows. THIS PROCESS IS KNOW AS "WINDOWS INPLACE UPGRADE". just google it!

This surely helped me because I don't have to redownload bf2042 again but just have to revalidate from steam. And yes I was able to play game again.

RESETING WINDOWS FOR A GAME?, NOT WORTH IT!! 

As I have seen on other forums thread with same issue but with different EA games for long time, I don't see EA Anitcheat Devs even care to solve this or at least try to address this. At least Devs would have done to list down errors with detailed problems instead of just saying Restart your game (I know they have errors listed on EA Anticheat webpage but that doesn't helps).

That's literally dumb! 

Also incase if EA AC Devs wants to know, I was facing problem on both newly bought and old PC.

Hope this helps to those who might get game running by simple reset !!!!

So I've tried to completely remove Battlefield / EA App / EA AntiCheat and all files connected with them, restart, clean temporary files, restart & install everything from STEAM ..

And still error 116 ☹️

OK, so finally I have found a solution !

Basically it looks like a problem with certificates ( at least in my case ) - that's what the change in registry also means.

What helped me - I've updated manually all my certificates - to that You need to run this command from elevated command prompt:

certutil.exe -generateSSTFromWU C:\ps\root.sst

this should get you a file with all the cerficates from Windows Update, bare in mind that folder "ps" needs to be created before or you will get errors

You might get "acceess denied" on that command ( as I did ) - then you need someone to run this command for You and send You the file - I would attach it here but of course it's not supported.

When You have the file you can import all the certificates from it manually or You can run following commands in PowerShell:

$sstStore = ( Get-ChildItem -Path C:\ps\root.sst )

$sstStore | Import-Certificate -CertStoreLocation Cert:\LocalMachine\Root

This will copy all Certificates from the file to Your local machine

Then, for good measure, restart Your machine

EA Support - please take note of this solution... because You were no help at all - no one would even take a look at .dmp files from eaanticheat...

Вот два решения, нужно сделать оба и мне помогло

1) изменить в реестре

\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\AuthRoot

Измените значение DisableRootAutoUpdate на 0.

2) сделать эту настройку.

Откройте настройки ПК,
Откройте настройки безопасности Windows,
Нажмите «Управление приложениями и браузерами».
Нажмите «Настройки защиты от эксплойтов».
Нажмите на «Настройки программы»
Нажмите «Добавить программу для настройки».
Нажмите «Выбрать точный путь к файлу».
Перейдите туда, где вы установили Battlefield 2042, и щелкните файл «BF2042.exe»,
Нажмите «Открыть»,
Прокрутите вниз до пункта «Защита потока управления» (CFG),
Нажмите «Переопределить системные настройки»,
Убедитесь, что он переключен в положение «Выкл.»,
Наконец нажмите «Применить».

после этих двух действий все заработало.
