Do you have marked this 2 services in MSConfig ? Maybe you have them unchecked, which turns them off, and without it you won't be able to do anything.

I have EABackgroundService checked, but I don't even see EAAntiCheatService. How would I get this to appear even if it is installed?

Search again, you should have it, this service installs when you first install ea anti cheat. If you currently have a so-called clean boot applied, restore the boot configuration to the point before clean boot was applied. (In short, restore Windows to a normal standard boot with all services). After that, try to launch the game, then reinstall Ea Anti Cheat if BF2042 does not start. If EA Anti Cheat still doesn't work, I don't know 🙂

You are 1 in a million lucky person who didn't install this anti cheat service correctly.

I'm having the same exact issue.  I too do NOT have EAAntiCheatService in msconfig services

Exact error codes.  When I try a repair it also tells me 'invalid game directory'

ResourceExtract failed:1113
Install failed:701

If I try an update I get this

Starting UpdateCheck...
Starting InstallationCheck...
ServiceQuery success
InstallationCheck failed:603
UpdateCheck failed:1902

Try installing this EA software in administrator mode - although I doubt it will help.

Are you working in normal MSCONFIG mode or in Clean boot mode? (I ask out of curiosity).

The question is also what account you are currently on (built-in administrator account / standard administrator account / just user account)
