Hey everyone, 

I'm glad to hear that your problem has been resolved either through an EA app recovery or game repair via the EA app. 😃

Nevertheless, I would appreciate it if those who encountered the issue during the release of Patch 5.0.1 could kindly assist by sharing their EA app logs and Error IDs. This would greatly help us in identifying and resolving the root cause of the problem, thus preventing its recurrence in the future.

Your cooperation in providing us with EA app logs and EA app Error Reporter IDs would be greatly valued and highly appreciated!

EA app Error Report ID

  • Please share an EA app Error Report ID here in the thread. Steps can be found here on how to generate this ID.
    • If you cannot open the EA app, you can still generate an Error Report ID by following the steps mentioned underneath the section called "I can't open the EA app".

EA app logs

  • Please share logs of the EA app, by either creating a .zip or .rar file of them and adding them to your post,
    • The EA app logs can be found in C:\ProgramData\EA Desktop\Logs & C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\Logs.

Update: it seems that this is causing the error for most people.

Did you also check if you have the newest patch, 5.0.1, installed?

If you are playing on PC EA app and if the EA app did not offer the patch to you, please make sure to perform an EA app recovery and check if you can download/install the new patch.

Alternatively, try to repair the game via the EA app.

If you do not have the newest patch installed, it's working as intended and matchmaking (for every mode) will fail.

    Seems I was in a older version, downloading new patch....will update the thread if this solved the problem?

    I have to say, I am at my wits end with this game when it requires updating. It ALWAYS breaks for me. WHY?

    So tired and fed up of apologies and being given temporary fixes that do not solve the main issue.

    So this morning I am trying to see if I want to play BF this week.

    EA app updates itself. OK, fine.

    Start the game, everything looks normal.

    I am in the game, Matchmaking errors all over the place.

    Exit the game, nothing asks me to update.

    I repair the game, then I get this:

    Clicking update, it works for a bit, then it completes, but I do not get the play button, it is stuck at "Update" and it just will not launch anymore.

    Logged out of EA app, logged back in. Repaired. Same fiasco.

    @EA_Leeuw QOL update - add a forum section to the game page with known issues. That way the player doesn't have to search for the issue.

    Oh wait it's the EA APP never mind

    hi 

    the solution you offered is not really good! EA itself knows the problem and can't fix it with a new update? I'm doing what you mentioned but also the download is ugly slow. Can't understood why i have to search the Internet to find how to fix it.

    For me its really unbelievable.

    and as you wrote the BF2042 is acting as you programmed it - if the server is on another version as the client there comes a matchmaking error. 

    Why is there no hint that the versions are different?

    Ia ma repairing it as well to see if it helps it should fix the problem.

    all that app recovery does for me is cause this stupid app crash and then i still cant play what i paid for. this is getting ridiculous. I dont get a huge amount of time to play and almost every time i try i have some bull to make my game work.
