The old windows account does not exist, and the new one is an admin.
@EA_Barry Any more thoughts on how to get the game running?

@heckinbamboozleyou made sure that the gameplatform is not luanching with windows !
As soon windows is booted , right click youre gameplatform shortcut and select RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR !
Did it fix anything ?
Also checked youre EAC installation ?PS did test game without youre EXTERNAL DISPLAY port ?
Cheers @Rokebo73 I have tried running Steam, the EA app, and the battlefield 2042 .exe as administrator. Nothing worked.
I also tried verifying the EAC installation.
I don't know what you mean by "test game without youre EXTERNAL DISPLAY port "
- Rokebo733 years agoSeasoned Ace@heckinbamboozle cause i see there are 2 monitors connected !
Disconnect one (when pc is hsutdown) and test game with only 1 monitor connected !!!
Update us please !
Cheers Hey there @heckinbamboozle !
I feel like I've read that there's problems with games you own in Steam with the EA App. Maybe worth a try to uninstall the EA App and try it with Origin.
I have the game in Epic and for me the game either just doesn't work, like no indication of anything going on at all or I get an EasyAntiCheat "CreateFile failed with 32" error in the launcher.
I don't really know where the error's at for you but I ultimately got it working today after setting literally anything remotely related to the game to run as admin. EasyAntiCheat in my C:/, everything in my Origin install folder like the Origin.exe and OriginWebHelper, everything in the BF2042 install folder including the BF2042_launcher, EasyAntiCheat_setup and whatever, you name it.
- locate it
- right click
- Properties
- Compatibility
- Check "Run this program as an administrator"
Also delete the EasyAntiCheat.sys and repair the EasyAntiCheat_setup in the BF2042 install folder and maybe repair the game in Origin/EA App as well
- Rokebo733 years agoSeasoned Ace@TheMaximal only luanch the game platform you did buy bf2042 at !
Does this fix anything ? Gameplatform is started as admin ? I shutdown my computer, unplugged one of my monitors, turned it back on and tried running the game. Same issue, would not open.
- direct3r3 years agoSeasoned Ace@heckinbamboozle @Rokebo73 when a monitor is not available the game usually crashes with some error, if it's on the wrong monitor you can switch the window to some other monitor it via windows key + arrow keys .
the problem when you just switch windows accounts is that folder rights get really badly messed up usually, there can be now a plenty of issues (steam folders, bf folders, etc.)
Is there any error popping up when you start the game? what happens exactly when you try to start? does it try to launch and then just nothing happens?
for the latter I would recommend to reinstall steam also (you can keep the games, usually steam can be installed in the same directory again and recognize all games, but still there might be folder issues!), so better delete ALL things that were running under the old account I uninstalled steam (it seemed to uninstall all my games), reinstalled it, reinstalled battlefield, ran steam as admin, and it still doesn't work.
It just acts like it's going to boot up the game, I can see it open up the EA app, then does nothing and closes. I don't even see the loading screen anymore like I used to.
Uninstalled and resintalled again, but this time everything at once.
uninstalled steam, ea app, and battlefield. Search my computer for any steam / battlefield files etc. and deleted them. Reinstalled steam, installed battlefield and it still didn't work.
Tried using disk cleaner, that didn't work either... updated drivers a second time...
Kinda cringe that I can't play a game I paid for :/ idk what else to try.
any other ideas? I play this game with my wife pretty regularly, sucks that we can't play together anymore. Would really like a fix.
@heckinbamboozle I actually got it working now by unchecking run as administrator on everything. Might be worth a try at least.
- Rokebo733 years agoSeasoned Ace@heckinbamboozle Does it show EAC windows when ya try to launch BF2042 ?
@Rokebo73 It does not. It did originally, but at some point trying to fix it the EAC window stopped popping up. It just opens the EA app and then nothing happens.
- Rokebo733 years agoSeasoned Ace@heckinbamboozle what game platform did ya buy bf2042 at ?
- Rokebo733 years agoSeasoned Ace@heckinbamboozle make sure other game platforms arent running while steam is running.
Try again and update us ! @Rokebo73 The only other game platform running was battle.net. I closed it and tried opening battlefield again and nothing changed.
