I am having the same issue. I will randomly lose the ability to zoom with my weapon until I die and respawn. Usually happens after using the drone or throwing a grenade. When I switch to my guns I cannot zoom. This happens randomly and not every time I use the drone, but it happens at least once a game usually more. All other controls work, only the zoom is affected.

There are many people with this issue. And I don't think it's fair to claim it's a "hardware issue" given that it only happens on Battlefield 2042. Well another one here, and I did a clean windows 10 install, just instaled origin and BF2042 and the issue persist, so there's something with the game that is messed up, cause if a clean install od the SO doesn't correct this... I think we are not gonna have a fix for this at all. EA and DICE just washing away responsability.

Here is a quick update from me:

- I just did a clean install of Windows 11 Pro yesterday
- Only installed the basic drivers necessary to play the game (video, motherboard chipset, mouse, etc.)
- Played the game and I still get momentary freezes, but different than before. Now they are infrequent and usually at the start of a map when sounds and things are heard for the first time. Also not as severe. In other words, it's no longer a regular 1 or 2 second pause three times in a row every 5-10 minutes.

For example, I played for about an hour last night and got the freeze twice near the start of my play session. I played again tonight for about an hour and got it once briefly (again near the start of my session). It really feels like a more "normal" stutter when something is loading for the first time now instead of a consistent repetitive issue.

I'm going to keep testing as I load more apps and stuff and I'll put another update here as I go along.

In short, the game still freezes briefly sometimes, but not near as often and it is less severe when it happens. I'm trying to be hopeful here. :-)

FYI, my system has an ASUS motherboard, Core i9-9900K CPU, 32GB of RAM and an RTX 3080 Ti video card.

So my problem I can only fix by removing all my peripherals (except mouse and keyboard). Of course, this is not the solution to the problem, but a workaround.

So after updating my keyboard's firmware, my game had no issues for about a month. I left iCUE installed, but not launching on boot-up. One day the issue just started happening again without me changing anything. I updated iCUE software, but it didn't seem to do anything. I uninstalled iCUE and after rebooting, I haven't had the issue for a few days.

This seems to confirm it is some issue with this game specifically interacting with certain versions of keyboard firmware/controller software. I would suggest ppl look into their keyboard software/firmware for a solution since it doesn't seem EA/DICE seems to care about a 20-page thread of an issue.

Just as a datapoint, I have a Razer keyboard and Logitech mouse with no software installed. So can't really uninstall something that isn't installed.

Update 9/29/22: Below is what happened before the patch during the last week of Sep 2022.  Now (after the patch), my game freezes about once every 20-30 seconds and it happens in-game AND in the menus.  Basically happens anywhere within the game.

Update 9/30/22: I rebooted and continued to play the Renewal map (after playing it a few times earlier) and the freezing went away completely.  However, the game crashed twice in less than 30 minutes.

• What keyboard & mouse are you using?
  • Keyboard: Logitech G910 (although I do not use this to play the game - see next entry)
  • Gamepad: Logitech G13 Gamepad (I use this to play all my games instead of the keyboard)
  • Mouse: Razer Naga Pro
• Does your M&K use any software? 
  • Yes.
  • My keyboard and gamepad uses Logitech Gaming Software (I'm running version 9.02.65)
  • My mouse uses Razer Synapse (I'm running version 3.7.831.83015)
• Where in the game does it happen?
  • It happens when I'm running around the map playing the game.  It does not appear to be on any one map or at any one location on a map.  Every time it happens, my key and mouse inputs are "frozen" three times for about 1 second, separated by about 1 second.  This is the most common pattern, but sometimes it will only happen once instead of three times in a row.
• Does it always happen at the same place and same time in the game?
  • It happens seemingly randomly.  Sometimes it happens every minute or so, and other times it is less frequent.  It seems to be most frequent right after patches are applied and gradually gets less frequent the more days I play.

Because of the above, I thought that it may have to do with the game freezing the inputs whenever it creates new ".PcDx12" cache files for the maps after each patch.  Once most of the updated cache files are created, the fewer times the inputs are "paused" to create a cache file maybe?  That is just one of my theories because I see a lot of PcDx12 files being created in my Documents folder when I play.

@SkykingUS-EhI hadn't seen anyone mention this yet. I came here looking for answers as I've been dealing with keyboard lag/freezing since the game launched and it ONLY HAPPENS ON 2042. However, try unplugging and re-plugging your mouse/keyboard during the freeze in game.

My results are the game unfreezes and once the keyboard is plugged back in I can play again, until it happens again.

I'm using a 3080ti, keyboard is Corsair k95. Not a permanent fix but at least a band aid to allow you to continue in the match until they can fix this nonsense.

I had this issue when the game first came out... Fresh install of windows was the solution. just get your passwords and 2factor authentication in order before hand, and be sure to select "keep personal files" when prompted.

no game is worth fresh install of windows, especially this monstrosity..

Im getting more and more lock ups since Lev Update came out..

Almost every game last second or two, or even longer..

I'll rather delete this thing but since this is my most recent purchased game.

Im not going to till i get my moneys worth..

I have never had this before until this latest patch.

In game, I lose mouse and keyboard, all controls only in game, so if I die, I gain all controls back in the spawn menu. The only thing that works is ALT-F4 or ATL-TAB, which at that time, mouse and keyboard are fine.

I am not running any overlays and my system has not changed since launch. 

Did anything in the last patch deal with controls or settings?

I just bought the game on sale and also encounter this issue. In a normal match, I tend to lose all input for 3-5 seconds for probably 15-20 times. I keep dying in the dumbest situations due to that. It kills the fun completely. So far I wasn't able to pinpoint this down to a specfic trigger. My system doesn't freeze, everything keeps running as intended, no spikes etc. Drivers are up2date. USB peripherals don't seem to cause it. Different mouse refresh rates are not an issue. I tried all kinds of ingame settings. I deleted config files. Not a single thing helped. This is absolutely ridiculous, considering how far this issue seems to date back.

The mouse cursor sometimes also leaves the screen and I can see it on my second monitor, no matter what mode I use (Fullscreen, Borderless). I don't even have any high hopes that this will get fixed.

Thanks for the link, but it sadly didn't fix it. The freezes come less frequently and not as long as before, but they're not gone. So yeah, it's gotten a tiny bit better but still kills the fun.
