Re: Massive Packet loss 2042 servers, Portal works FINE.

@EA_Atic
It can't be ISP related as I have no issue playing other EA based games and can play battlefield 2042 with no issue on PS5 in the same house.

And it can't be my PC as I have perfect connection to other EA server hosted games and other game servers in general with no history of packet loss. Especially to the extent I get when playing battlefield so being ISP related is out of the question. And I can guarantee if I rang them up they'd just blame your side and we'd get no where.

    @madcowman20000  For most of the network issues, that we are seeing it's network hubs that you are getting routed to are having issues.

    Inside the red box are potential server hubs that keep sending your data to the end destination and in this case our server. If one of those servers hubs has an issue with being overworked or cant handle the data it will reflect on your connection to us and in-game (bad ping, loss of connections, data loss and so on). This is outside of our domain and control as we don't control how your data get sent to us only that our system accepts it. This is why i sen you to the ISP to see if they can help out identify where or what network hub that are having issues.

    My great paint skills.

    Started getting huge packet loss few weeks back, 2 months max. I seem to only have problems with Battlefield 2042 and none with other games. Got a 400Mbit/20Mbit connection and a juicy PC with RTX 3090.

    I tried a connection from a different ISP, as well as routing my traffic via VPNs to no avail.

    I don't know if Dice/EA changed something when it started, but I used to be able to play just fine. Now e.g. flying is just horrible with the constant yellow packet loss icon blinking in the left top corner. According to the connection bar it doesn't seem to usually go over 1%, but it's still really game breaking and rubber-bandy.

    PS. I have upgraded to Windows 11, and upgraded ASUS BIOS semi-recently, so I can't completely rule them out either as I don't exactly remember the timelines.

    @Swie check for update (kb5017383) there seems to be different issues with it , google for it ! Not the same issues for everyone !
  • Found the culprit for my packet loss, and I'm ashamed to say it was my router/VDSL box. Giving it a boot completely erased all the issues. It remains a mystery why did this only affect BF2042, but perhaps some other games' net code handle packet loss differently and smoothen it out. Who knows how that affected my performance though 🙂

    So because you guys decided to go with a major provider like what, AWS? my traffic to the server is always going to be garbage?  Great, so the game is still unplayable after I gave you guys a 7 month break to "fix it," or so I would have hoped.  Glad I can't buy and host my own official ranked rules server in a location near me..... That would be too 2006.  The last straw for this franchise.
