Re: [PC] DirectX Device Hung when playing Ultrawide / Large FOV

The patch for battlefield 2042 came out. Played for 30 minutes, no crashes now it seems. It used to fly out within 2-5 minutes. The latest Nvidia drivers.

@EA_AticTested on two pcs with different builds, all things else on ultra. Crash doesn't occur as long as terrain is on not on ultra. I haven't had any other crashes since.

Will do further tests with Windows 11 and 4090 etc to see if new hardware changes it happening on ultra. I do have a new different bug to google that appears to be caused by geforce experience, where a sudden alt tab out caused in game screen to go black with HUD still visible, fixed by changing camera view and then back again.

Tested for a few hours now on a totally new build, Windows 11 latest updates, latest drivers, with an Asus tuf 4090, 13700k, Asus Z790 Apex, with all settings on ultra including rtx, even while running nvidia overlay as well - though I do have origin in game off.

No longer crashing with terrain on ultra.

Will have to run the test again on the other PCs.

  • Thanks for your reply @Kuiriel . Did you also changed your Monitor? What resolution are you running right now and before?

  • I tested this yesterday everything on ultra and put textures on high and the game played fine. Soon as I put textures to ultra I got the error again.

    Specs.

Rtx 4080 (latest drivers). 13600k raptor lake cpu.
32gb of ddr4 ram at 3200mhz. Resolution was. 3440x1440 21:9. And a Samsung pro nvme ssd.

@Sn00zey90Same monitor, LG34Gk950f, 3440*1440. I even brought across the same settings folder from my windows 10 install. All working great, no crashes so far.

I took the old hardware and plugged it until TV, where even older hardware was before. The Ps4 controller used to work fine with it. I fresh installed Windows 11 and bam stuck staring at ground bug in that machine, it hated the controller, triangle was d pad down, x was dpad up, rt was confirm, crazy. Tried removing the settings files and then even mkb didn't work, lol. No crashes though, even with terrain on ultra. So lol again.

  • @Kuiriel Thanks for your reply. Any chance you are a NFS Unbound Player too? If so: did you had these DXGI Errors in NFS:U too?

@Sn00zey90 Alas no NFS here. Will test tonight to see if bumping up FOV can create the same FOV + ultra widescreen + terrain-ultra + soldier-on-foot = crash again.

@Kuiriel Bug again today. Crashed, same error, same fix. Can't have terrain on ultra, I don't even have FOV that high, it's only 59.1 on ultrawide. Works fine with it off. Very specific bug!!!

Hey guys, for what i saw in this thread, only people with nvidea are having problems?

Im playing 3440x1440 with everything on ULTRA and works on 6900xt, the only problem is sometimes the game crash without error when connecting to servers.
