Ok, for those on the Xbox Series X… I stumbled on this that seems to work (but not clearly spelled out anywhere I can find)…

I hit the Xbox button and highlighted the game tile > chose more options > Quit < couldn’t find that for the life of me

All fixed! Back on line.
