You won’t have any issues on steam. It’s the origin and EA app that’s has the issue.
I have the problem with steam also
@FullAssault2017go tothe controller settings in steam and disable controller support for all controller types and only enable Xbox controller.

I totally skipped season 2 and I just came back to check to see if they ironed out all the bugs and fixed the controller and NO. I can't believe after all this time they still haven't fixed the controller compatibility issue and yet they release this garbage EA Desktop app that doesn't even let you move your games like the Origin app, unbelievable!
Mine is just start working now. But I got tired of the Bluetooth connection of the pc. So I start using the small adaptor for windows. Hope my experience helps.

Are you using a Xbox Series X controller? If yes, how did you get it to work especially with Bluetooth? I have mine plugged in and I lose my focus and start facing in different directions mostly to the ground randomly in the game then I die. My Bluetooth connection won't even work properly through the menus to start the game even.
Yes. I’m using the Xbox elite 2 controller. Before I have issues! I even cancel my pro account. Somehow the wifi Bluetooth didn’t work with my connection just for bf 2042. So I use the Microsoft Xbox wireless adapter. Don’t remember if I use before? The new update for windows or I’m playing with bf 2042 with the ea pass including with Xbox ultimate subscription.
any questions feel free to ask.

The subscriptions aren't going to do anything and I have the controller plugged in so it should have the same effect. Are you using the Origin app for windows?
- @PrometheusCO Download the Xbox Accessories app from the Microsoft Store. All better.

EA for windows.
- @PrometheusCO Did you open the app, connect your controller via cable to your computer, then run the updates?

It seems like it's working but when I am in the game I lose focus and find myself staring at the ground or something it randomly resets for some reason. And Bluetooth connection has never worked for me it just won't' recognize all the buttons with a Bluetooth connection for some reason.
My controller not being detected issue stemmed after playing without any issues for 64 hours of gameplay.
My issue only started a couple days ago out of nowhere, I'm assuming after a game update.
I play the Steam version of the game.
I use an Xbox controller.
After going thru the process of elimination of all the possible fixes found on the internet for this controller issue.
I tried the following things individually with a restart of the system in between without success.
- Update GPU drivers
- Verified game files on Steam- Unplugged all other USB devices
-Tried using different controllers
-Unchecked all controller support from Steam
-Checked only Xbox controller support in Steam
-Tried the same in Big Picture Mode in Steam
I got to the point where the only suggestion from the internet left was to uninstall and reinstall the game.
As I was reinstalling the game, I saw the post #302 by hairEbutt123 and thought I might as well try this also. So, I disabled the "Origin While in Game" option in the Origin app like it was suggested in the post.
I wish I would have waited to make sure it wasn't just the reinstall that was needed.
After the game reinstalled and the files were verified on Steam, I launched the game.
Upon entering the first match I was able to finally use my controller again. So, it was either the option in Origin app that needed to be unchecked or the reinstall that did it for me.*Update 2 days later*
Had the same issue arise again.
This time I went straight to the Origin app, where I was forced to log in.
I then went to the same game properties and checked the same box, clicked save, went back in unchecked it, clicked save.
Then was able to use the controller again.I know I read many people had tried "everything" with no luck, but this worked for me. I hope this will help others fix their issues as I know how frustrating it can be.
It's sad when a game company doesn't actually have fixes for these issues, and we have to rely on the game community to assist each other in trial-and-error attempts in order to fix the creators foul ups.
Good luck everyone, I'll see you on the Battlefield.closing steam worked for me, i play the game on xbox game pass, and when steam is closed, controller support works on the game

Think I have found a fix, at least for me, I had to disable ea starting with Windows then go into the ea settings, toggle the ea overlay off & then on again.
Once you've done this then go back to main ea settings and switch off start with Windows..hey presto haven't had an issue since.. before it would work 1 day and then stop for weeks or months was ridiculous, since doing this I've been playing no hassle for 3 months now!!!! Hope this helps everyone else.
