RTX 2060 and low FPS

Anyone else got an RTX 2060 and having issues? I am getting low FPS even on medium with everything turned off. Making it hard to play. Any help or what you guys have for settings to make it run?

  • It's gotta be CPU related, 100%

I have an r5 3600 paired with a 2070 super and get 40-60fps all low 1440p/1080p (both resolutions have same performance)

I can't answer anyone else's numbers but personally I noted CPU usage is around 100% while GPU hovers around 30-60%

OP what really  helped  me was the following :

    1. Creating a  user.cfg in the game directory with  the following  lines (note the first two depend on  your specific  cpu, mine has 6 cores and 12 threads. the first is the core count and the second is mostly hit/miss depending on how many threads you have. I found from a reddit post from someone with the same cpu that 7 worked better for this value and it works well for  me)

    Thread.ProcessorCount 6
    Thread.MaxProcessorCount 7
    Thread.MinFreeProcessorCount 0
    Thread.JobThreadPriority 0

    2. Turning GstRender.Dx12Enabled to 1 and setting GstRender.ShadowQuality to 0 in PROFSAVE_profile. this is in the 2042 folder where your documents folder islocated

    3. DLSS  enabled, i like balanced but performance is a trade off between quality and slightly higher fps

I found these three things make 2042 more playable, in my case it nearly doubled fps (20-40 fps to 40-60)

@GrizzGolf I'm running a 2080Ti and still run it all on low, and get between 60 and 80 fps in game. The graphics optimization for this game is atrocious. There are a few YouTube videos that help...but try low instead of medium.
  • what sort of CPU have you guys got?

I sit on 110-120fps+ with a gtx 1080oc pretty much constantly, video settings are low @ 1080. Being on a 6 year old video card, I wouldn't really say the video opt. is atrocious, quite the opposite from my experience. That said, I'm not sure what it runs like on high/ultra - I won't even bother trying it with this card.

I do have a 12th gen i7 @ 5.2ghz pushing it along though. 128p needs a lot of CPU power to get it really singing.

The 1080oc I have is only slightly faster than your 2060, maybe 10-15% so that GPU shouldn't be struggling with frames to the point it becomes difficult to play. And the 2080ti old mate below has certainly wouldn't be struggling. Assuming your drivers and such are all up-to-date

perfoverlay.drawfps true in the games console will give you a read out of what your CPU and GPU are doing, I'm willing to bet your CPU is reading out mostly in red, maybe orange.

Boosted me up to around 70-80 after this and making some of the settings to low. Thank you!
