Stuttering on PC BF2042
has anybody got game stutter/micro stutter on this game on PC. i have a high powered rig rtx380 and 12700 and i get a stable fps of 80ish at 4k yet i get stutter and i have no idea how to fix it? ...

Must admit I don't run game at 4K ( 1440p monitor), i play at 1440p, but the random stutters etc occur at any lower resolutions too and with all the settings set Low.
It will be interesting to see if Liddle has these issues the same at lower resolutions.
@raverillSo if you run low Graphical/resolution settings you take out the GPU of the equation.
So what's left is your CPU and storage setup. Micro stutter is noticeable on my setups on the bigger 128 player maps as my CPU spikes higher than on the 64 ones...
However it is not that it starts lagging or borking the frames per second that it becomes unplayable. It is just less smooth...
Yes... i have AMD 5800x CPU and a nvme drive so don't think the issues there either....its not that the game is unplayable, its just the random hitching and micro stutter distracts . Some people are more sensitive to stuttering than others. I find it annoying, especially as earlier Battlefield games don't exhibit it. Mind you, i run those in DX11, i feel the Frostbite engine may not be as well optimised using DX12 ?
Something is definitely off ?

Also using DDr5 ram with 3080 and i712700. If you need more than this to play the game that would be insane.
But to the point above. It’s not stuttering it’s like micro stutter and hitching yes. It’s not like the entire frame is freezing it’s more it’s my guy running taking a double step 🤣 - @raverill 2042 runs better here with DX12 enabled...
Now something is causing these stutters and for me it is not just only the game to blame. I tested the game on 4 different setups, really if I can run it on a 2700X and a GTX 1070, medium detail preset at 1080P capped at 60FPs smooth, why can't some do that on a higher specced setup... Too much tweaking maybe via config files, maybe even totally wrong settings...
Fingers crossed seasons 2 will enhance the game performance so people can start enjoying the game as I do.
I have much respect for the EA crew that battle here daily with all the negativity, which at some moments seems to be even orchestrated. - @NightHawkk1997 With you on that one about the streaming sometimes when your soldier is running.. sometimes not very smooth .
Fingers crossed to see if season 2 has had some tweaking to smooth out the issues we are having.. I'll have to reinstall the game to check when season 2 is released lol @ATCleeghoofdsee I don’t have and ‘tweaked’ settings I Jsut play the game as is on high settings and j get the stutter. No other game on my system for example cyberpunk have any form of stutter.
- @ATCleeghoofd Same here..no tweaked settings. i agree with Liddle on all counts..Cyberpunk on my rig runs smotth as silk also.. Something is definately off still with 2042.
@raverill @ATCleeghoofd the way I can describe it is that it feels like minor rubber banding sometimes when running. Yet my connection is fine. 12 ms ping Maybe it’s network related?

note I have ram at 1440 on my old monitor before I upgraded to 4k and it stutters. I also just tried them by lowering the Res in my 4k monitor to 1440 and still got lag. I don’t know if it’s my combination of hardware causing the issue for example Dice have not optimised for it. Maybe it’s network related on Dice end. I have check every possible point on my end to see if that’s the issue but I genuinely don’t think it is.

- @7empePL i use a controller so do not this its the same issue to be honest
This is a video of the microstutter i get on every game but does get worse. Please take a look and let me know if there is anything i can do. thanks 🙂
- @NightHawkk1997 yep..same here and its intermittent... Its a game related issue..its not your rig.

Its the game... try BF1, 3 & 4.. doesn't happen in them You think? Loads of people say they don’t have it at all though so I don’t understand to be honest. I feel like it will never get fixed.
- @NightHawkk1997 Depends how sensitive you are to micro stutter.. some people might not even notice that or be sensitive to it.. as i've said before, try BF4 and tell me that's doing the same... They are worlds apart ! BF4 doesn't do that!
- @raverill When you watch the YouTubers though they don’t seem to have these issues when I watch their videos this is what concerns me
@raverillyou compare a game of 2013-2016 on a modern spec PC, thank god it doesn't stutter too....
- @ATCleeghoofd So a game released in the last 12 months on a modern spec PC should stutter? The discussion here regards random micro stutter / stuttering noticed on this game, and we would hope that further patches would optimise this game to the level of smoothness that all other previous Battlefield games maintain.

I never said it should stutter, but yes it could stutter as they still might need to optimize it. Hey plz don't tell me BF3 and 4 ran great straight out of the box... I still recall dark screens, game crashes when in tanks etc,...
Now I noticed huge steps forward performance wise with the last patches, so let us see what happens in September.
There is more different hardware on the market now than back then. Intel and AMD release new CPUs like maximum each half year, similar story for the graphics vendors... Times have changed and it doesn't make it any easier for the game developers
- @ATCleeghoofd BF3 and 4 weren't without their issues granted but i have my fingers massively crossed that performance is improved in this game further across the board...Dice have lost their way with this release and I'm not sure i'll be buying any future releases unless they pull something much more impressive and true Battlefield out of the bag. I'm following with anticipation the upcoming releases of the software house of some BF ex devs.. Should be interesting !
Regards. @raverill @The game does seem to be really buggy. To be honest I have not really noticed much improvement at all! The same amount of stutter has happened to me since launch!
I just got as new rig.. RTX 3080 / Ryzen 9 5900X / ram 32 gig. etc. It replaced a 6 year old system that ran perfect other than lower frame rates. The new system stutters and rubber bands like crazy on this game. I have tried everything I can think of. The other major difference was going from win10 to 11. The game is unplayable now.

There is something ' Off' with the performance of 2042... I'm just hoping that a future patch cures the issues this game has. For those having those issue its do too windows 11 on windows 10 once every 5 or so games i have a second of shutter that is it. I say its windows 11 because a 2042 dice team member said so.
This was during the season one update they moved the shadier location to a place were windows 11 thinks its a virus this post was on here but has been buried.
Disable one drive then tell windows 11 that 2042 can read/write in your documents folder instructions online for that.
