TAA still enabled with DLSS on, severe shimmering on objects and blurriness

I always thought the reason DLSS looked off was because it was an older version, but DLSS has finally been updated to a newer version, 2.5 and it still looks very blurry and has alot of issues compared to DLSS 2.5 in other games.

Objects with lots of repeating patterns and transparencies like chain link fences, ridges on cargo containers, power lines/wires, etc all have severe shimmering and temporal stability issues with DLSS and there is still alot of ghosting which, again, doesn't happen in other games.

I'm sure now that its because the in-game TAA is STILL ON even when DLSS is on. DLSS is supposed to completely replace TAA, not be coupled with it. So now you basically have 2 temporal AA methods running on top of each other, which just compounds their issues and explains the temporal stability "fighting"/shimmering. Not to mention the general image quality issues this causes since you're essentially running 2 heavy duty AA AND temporal stability methods stacked on top of each other.

You can even see it yourself. Turn DLSS on and the TAA options are still available, and switching between TAA-Low and TAA-High still affects how the image looks, even though it shouldn't because, again, TAA should be disabled. Switching to TAA-Low does not fix the problem either because you still have the inherent issue of 2 temporal methods running on top of each other, and all the same issues are still present.

On top of this, they are still using a DLSS version which had the built-in sharpening that was taken out in 2.5.1 because even Nvidia said it looked bad, and you can see severe over-sharpening haloing trails around thin objects when moving the camera, honestly the worst I've seen in any game, and I believe thats also because the game's TAA is on which just compounds the issue. This could also have something to do with the issue FROM HERE about DLSS disabling or greatly reducing motion blur, but not sure.

The fix would be to completely disable the game's TAA (when DLSS is on) so DLSS takes over all temporal and AA functions (grey-out the TAA option when DLSS is on as well so there's no confusion), and update DLSS to 2.5.1 to remove the bad sharpening. And please don't just grey the TAA option without making any changes, actually have it disable when DLSS is on, should help image quality alot. Loving the game's direction btw, keep up the great work!

  • Exactly! I used DLSS prior to Season 5 because it actually improved , zip lines, wires, etc... at a far distance. Now the second I loaded into Reclaimed on S5 I noticed the haloing effect on the rocks and turned it off. Please fix ASAP! The game is rocking otherwise!

This post needs bumping, much more detailed than the one I just made. Please fix.
