Why do i need to log in to my microsoft account to play bf42?

"To update or play this game, you`ll need to sign into your microsoft account and verify your game pass subscription"

Why the heck do i need to do this, when i bought the gold edition already back in october?  Can some one enlighten me on this? And what if i wont have game pass anymore? (i have it till march, but not planning to keep the sub) Will i not be able to play the game even though i have bought it? TF is going on?

    Recommend using Origin instead 2042 should show up there better, there can be some entailment conflict on the EA App. @Nutcrusherr

    @EA_Atic Whats bothering me is that i have 220 hrs in bf 2042 with ea play app, and another 10 hrs on origin. It may sound silly to you or anyone else but i hate that it counts seperetly, thats why im using ea play even though it makes my windows glitchy and all, i have to continue using ea play cos of the hrs ive put in the game through this app. Its a shame rly. Ea should decide wther to go with origin or ea play and stick to their decision..

    EA App is the future but its still in development and beta so some items dont always work as it should. @Nutcrusherr
