I've tried many of the solutions listed in this thread, and the problem would still happen intermittently. The controller was recognized and worked within Windows and every game, except BF2042.
What's finally solved it for me was killing ALL the overlays except for Steam.
I had (unknowingly) 4 overlays conflicting:
-Steam
-Origin
-Nvidia GeForce Experience
-Xbox Game bar
You need Steam, and only Steam.
Using:
Windows 10, DS4 Windows, BF2042 Steam
I just tried all of that uninstalled and reinstalled a few different things, used a USB cable to plug my Xbox Series X controller and tried it again. Nope, it still resets my viewpoint while I am trying to aim, run etc randomly then I get killed because I lose my focus. It renders the game useless such a shame and I can't believe they won't fix the issue!
