Xbox Controls not working as intended

I need some serious help. all my buttons on my xbox controller are not syncing with the games already binded controls. when I press A to jump I instead get UP on the D-PAD. for the first few seconds booting the game the controller works fine but when everything finally loads everything is all mixed up. im unable to play the game. I have unplugged everything from my pc except for the controller, changed controller, changed cables, changed usb ports. reinstalled the game 4 times now at this point, all to no avail. even steam big picture mode setting for the controller still wasnt able to fix the issue. I just want to play the game and I cant even do that anymore. this just happened out of nowhere. I didnt mess with any settings
