A feedback from a long-time Battlefield player
I played Battlefield games since BF3 and played all of them except Hardline and 2042, averaging 300h for each title. Here is my feedback, hopefully it will help make the game better later on:
) The good :
+ Graphics. If you disable the horrendous TAA, you can have a beautiful experience even on low/medium settings
+ Performance. The game runs great on my machine, (getting around 96FPS average at 1080p), and should run decently on most machines (60FPS at 1080p) as long as they are not too old. No crashes, stable experience so far. Optimization needed for release, though
+ Audio. It rocks ! I can confidently say that this title is beating BF3 in terms of general atmosphere. The War Tapes V.A.L. mix is making the game even more immersive and I love playing with it. One thing I could mention is the sound stage being too closed off, I feel some sounds are muffled
+ Movement
+ Weapon and tank feeling (never tried air vehicles, never will)
+ Maps. The layouts are interesting and not as bad as some people may say. Plenty of places where to make crossfires and diverse ranges where to fight at, good for all classes most of the time. Too infantry-oriented and closed maps but it's a beta and we have yet to see the bigger maps.
+ Drag & revive ! OH YES BABY!!! (best feature)
+ Destruction. Feels amazing even though it can need balance/realism concerning projectile type/building damage ratio
) The average :
~ HUD. Overall, it's clean but things can be tweaked, added and so on. My biggest gripe is the massive ''revive squadmate doodle'' that appears when a squadmate is down but not on sight and farther than 150m. I always believe I can revive someone nearby but it's just a prank. Also, adding a ''you can revive allies nearby'' prompt when eligible (<30m) would be nice. I'm getting revived 5% of the time.
~ Comrose. Part of HUD but lacks useful features and options we used to have in previous titles
~ Immersive details we had in previous titles. Such as dirt on weapon after proning (BF1). 1st person breath is cool but not enough
~ Anticheat. No cheater encoutered so far. Not a positive because it's kernel-based
~ Challenges. We got some for the beta but what about the release? Hopefully we get as much or at least interesting ones like in older titles
~ Weapon recoil. I'd increase it a tad bit. Just my opinion, might differ between players
~ Persistent events. I would love to have long-term content. A high-end goal, beyond the match. Challenges inside the match could affect a faction-driven battle or something like that. The winner would win either rewards or slight advantages in matches that don't hinder the enemy's experience. The persistent battle/event could be tied with a leaderboard as well
) The bad :
- Server performance/netcode. Too many instances of super-bullet happening despite good ethernet connection. In some fights, I feel my bullets should hit but don't, maybe lost between ticks. Also dying behind a wall in certain occasions. Due to netcode or low tickrate I imagine? Otherwise, pretty stable, no crashes
- Weapon attachments. Their effect is often too strong
- Suppression. Wait there supposed to be suppression?
- Scope glint. Way too strong, often bleeding through cover. Makes prefiring easy
- Spotting. Way too long, way too noob-friendly. Being stealthy or flanking is a nightmare. I'm also worried about stealthy recon specialisations on release because spotting might hinder their ability to perform well. Bring back old spotting please
- Weapon lock. Let's see what class specialisations will bring, otherwise, open weapons will make class identities worthless
- Settings menu. It's been a while that I've seen such a poorly arranged settings menu. Needs a revamp
- Main menu interface. It's trash. Make it easier, less flashy. Plenty of nice concepts on Reddit for you to see but I'm sure you guys can craft something nicer
