Ban cheaters at the PC hardware level.

I agree with the opinion that cheaters should be banned at the PC hardware level. I don't just mean at the MAC address level, which they could change, but at the level of the entire hardware combination. This solution will be a greater deterrent than the ridiculous current penalties or buying a new game for a few bucks in a sale. It is no coincidence that most cheaters are found in sales, where they usually only risk the value of the game for a few bucks by cheating.

I wish EVERY game would do that. Maybe people would think again about cheating.

Hardware bans are easy to avoid. you can spoof your PC components by masking them with a third party application.

Valorant, fortnite and some other games use hardware bans and it is quite simple to do

I understand, but you are probably only referring to changing the MAC address. I completely agree with that. However, I am talking about the complete system fingerprint. This is used, for example, by browsers and, in particular, Windows OEM licenses. If it were as simple as you say, it would be possible, for example, to easily and without restriction transfer Windows OEM licenses to new hardware. On the other hand, the proposed measure would make more sense than passivity or revoking the game key.

The devs discuss this and why they require TPM, which prevents the ability to spoof, as TPM is a dedicated chip on the motherboard.

  • I agree, but you think that would stop them? there is pleanty of ways to HWID spoof any hardware ban. Microsoft tried this years ago with Windows activation and it was a disaster for them.

It also means that some get caught in the cross fire. for example you buy a PC from someone who was hardware banned, you then have to attempt to reverse this, not gonna happen.

I get the frustration, as these games are rife with cheats. I even came across one in the BF beta They had a KD of 67-2 and were pinpoint with their accuracy. Shame these soap eaters exist, but I just move to another server, or better yet rent one and ban them from that!
