There's so much that has been said here that I don't disagree with you. Battlefield fell off from the roots it has built from Battlefield 1942 up to Battlefield Bad Company 2. The experience hit better back then. The Battlefield games started to descend into an arcade after Battlefield 1. The server performance icons are the problem also that goes unrecognized too. I agree that this fast-paced gameplay doesn't work for Battlefield at all. Also, the ranking up is too easy, its shoot to get to the top instead of the Battlefield 2 rank system which was more complex but rewarding.
This is my take as well, I tried finding my old BF2 stats earlier this week to show a work mate what I meant by the progressive ranking system they used back then and how much better it was visually as well as satisfying to actually participate in but it seems the old stats are now gone :(
Anyhow I'm a little bit more hard core in opinion I believe the rot begun with BF3 and accelerated from BF4 onwards
