BF6 Beta – Helicopter Balance Feedback (Context, Issues, Community & Solutions)

I’ve played Bad Company 2 extensively—and most Battlefields since BF2. BC2 had balanced, skillful helicopter gameplay. In the BF6 beta, air combat feels one-sided: constant stinger pressure, overly vulnerable helis, and too much ground control. Many players on Reddit and EA forums echo this sentiment.

Community Feedback Highlights

  • Heli “floaty” & lack momentum:
“Helicopter physics in BF6 look like they have no weight or momentum… more like an RC helicopter.”
  • Instant stinger locks:
Players complain about how quickly and easily stingers lock on, making staying airborne a defensive slog.
  • Engineers stacking gadgets:
Ground players can carry both anti-air and anti-vehicle launchers simultaneously, overwhelming air gameplay.
  • Call for guided infantry rocket:
The BC2-style rocket launcher that lets you guide missiles is frequently mentioned as a balanced, skillful middle-ground between RPGs and stingers. ([[Giant Bomb forums]](… using targeting pistols + remote rocket guidance to down helis))

Identified Issues

  1. Helicopter handling feels unrealistic and sluggish.
  2. Stingers lock on too quickly and at too long a distance.
  3. Engineers can equip both AA and anti-vehicle launchers simultaneously.
  4. Long heli respawn timers and limited availability reduce air presence.
  5. Flares recharge too slowly, exposing pilots for extended periods.
  6. Mouse/keyboard controls feel unresponsive and awkward.
  7. Lack of a mid-range guided rocket option—BC2’s guided missile feels missing.

Proposed Solutions

  • Reintroduce BC2-style guided rocket launcher as a mid-tier option.
Skill-based: easier than an RPG, harder than a stinger, especially at mid–long range. Limit to 1–2 rockets.
  • Rework engineer loadouts:
Restrict carrying both anti-air and anti-vehicle gadgets simultaneously to force strategic choice.
  • Stinger adjustments:
Increase lock-on time, reduce range, and limit inventory to 1–2 rockets with longer reloads.
  • Heli deployment improvements:
Allow two helis on large maps and shorten respawn timers to sustain air combat viability.
  • Shorten flare cooldown:
Reduces the window where pilots are entirely vulnerable—makes flares a meaningful defense.
  • Control customization:
Offer separate sensitivities for general flight and ADS aiming, or add an optional “realistic flight” mode for more agility.

thank you for an awesome experience bf studios. Im excited for the full release

if any player noticed something aswell and has suggestions please add them and correct me if im wrong.
