I agree with all of this, a few additions I want to add:
Monetize weapon skins, not animations. This isn't Call of Duty, if you want to sell melee weapons that's understandable, but don't sell animations. Make a set of decent animations, maybe a few sets if there's a variety of types of weapons, and use those. Think Battlefield Hardline.
BF1 nailed it for melee combat. Sides and back are locked in animations that instant kill, look satisfying, but put you at a disadvantage for a few seconds while they play. From the front the melee does normal damage, but if that damage would be fatal it triggers a set from the front animation. The way it was in BF1 made it extremely satisfying to fight in melee, without it being unfair for the person being stabbed.
Melee has been one of my favorite parts of Battlefield for many years, and from what I played of the beta I'm excited for it to be that way in Battlefield 6.
Getting stabbed is totally avoidable with just a little bit of situational awareness, there is no such thing as an unfair takedown, if you get yanked it's because you wasn't paying enough attention.
