If call-outs for snipers/tanks/etc. are going to use cardinal directions, please give us a 360 degree compass option. how can i deal with a sniper north of me if i can't recognize where north is quickly? we can't exactly expect a player to start thinking in their head about the position of the sun (haha)...
There is an option for it in the settings (Disabled by default and kinda obscure though).
It is under: Graphics > Interface And Hud: Advanced Hud Settings > Infantry Compass: Show Compass Multiplayer
VERY PERSONAL OPINION: open weapons was too chaotic for my taste, and that something given even in closed weapons things were quite hairy. Now that I've played it i can see some of the appeal, so i won't say it can't work on some level now, but at least on these maps, the assault rifles were pretty dominant.
IMO, fully kitted Carbines (and Shotguns) were dominant in Iberian Offensive and Siege of Cairo.
I don't think too much about them yet as attachment options - especially utility ones - seemed very limited in the beta (e.g. from previous games: Underbarrel smoke/ Incendiary/ AT/ HE GL or Shotgun for AR/ Carbine, Anti-Vehicle ammo or CQC conversions for LMGs, extreme example is the underbarrel GL/ shotgun for SWS-10 from BF 2042, etc.)
In Closed Weapons...DMRs should be locked to recon, and perhaps Carbines to support. right now i feel that there's too much nebulousness in regard to the classes, especially with carbines able to splash in everywhere. narrowing the overall scope of how each class engages with each other along with the monkey-wrench of vehicles should help with the overall flow of combat in regards to the chokes (tanks start wrecking face, people start counter-swapping to Engi, tank gets hammered, assault and recon start picking them off, some start switching to support to help the ones switching to assault themselves, tanks re-spawn, cycle repeats).
One problem I can see with this is that players won't be able to play close range OG Spec-Ops like Recon (Already no SMG, so no Carbine meant they are forced to use shotgun I guess).
But if the Spec-Ops like specialization and C4 is moved to Assault (in addition to the Spawn/ Deploy Beacon change already stated), while it would keep the playstyle alive, it would also make Recons way weaker and likely make Assault too versatile.
