General Beta Feedback
Been playing a lot of the beta so far and overall, its been really enjoyable. Theres been some really fun times and frustrating ones too.
Ive personally encountered only a handful of bugs and a few are probably just because I was pegging my GPU before remembering to adjust settings. The bugs haven't been game breaking either, mainly just minor annoyances.
For the ones I've seen and remember right now is one of the starting locations on Cairo on the Pax side, you spawn behind a barrier at game start and have to jump it to move. Another is that I keep encountering my weapon parts resetting on the sniper rifle between games. I decided to remove the flash hider and use a range finder, yet with each new game it resets back to the flash hider. Only noticed it with the sniper rifle so far. The third is that sometimes you can't change parts at all before respawning. You can click to add the weapon part but it instantly removes it and/or adds the previous part you was using to the slot.
Moving onto the more general stuff from playing
Whilst it's enjoyable, a lot of things feel too fast. It's somewhat hard to describe but it's like you're always in the action. No break between firefights. No time to rest or regroup or anything like that. You tend to have enemies coming at you all the time and from every direction which makes it harder to coordinate or fight back. It is good having flanking options, but most of the time it feels as if there is too many options to take or deal with.
The movement feels too fast also. Not by a huge margin imo but I don't think we should be moving so fast. Perhaps it just feels that way because currently the maps are really small?
Snipers. I love to play as a sniper myself, taking a long range rifle, spotting enemies, learning the rifle and ballistics to pull off those awesome long range shots. I think that's what a lot of people enjoy too. However. One of the biggest problems I've found so far is scope glare. Both as a sniper and when being sniped. The glare really shouldn't be bright enough to act as a lighthouse or be so bright I might as well have pulled the pin on a flashbang and not thrown it when the enemy team contains 5+ snipers looking in a general direction...
Scope glare should most definitely be a thing but not to this level. Without it snipers wouldn't be found but right now attempting to hide is nigh impossible. Ive been attempting to snipe targets on points from a distance only for a tank gunner to snipe me from 200+ meters away. Or for another class to beam me from that distance with an AR or SMG. In some cases it's probably a skill issue but all somebody needs to do is aim at the giant flashlight of a scope and shoot.
Maybe it could be helped by toning down the brightness a lot? Perhaps reducing the angle at which a person can see glare? Similar to BF1 where you wouldn't really see it unless they was looking at you.
Helicopters. As of right now the attack helicopter is awful. It feels waaay too heavy and clunky. It doesn't feel right at all. Aside from sniping, my other main play style is helicopter pilot and in BF3 BF4 I'd consider myself to be a pretty good pilot. Here though, they seem way too restricted and weak. Hard to handle and maneuver. Kinda flimsy too. For the most part so far, seeing a helicopter is basically free kills as it's so easy to bring one down. The rockets are supposed to be anti armour yet at the same time seem to have no to little splash damage and a full barrage struggles to even kill a single infantry soldier. I do wish I could try piloting more but most helis, my own included barely last more than a few minutes in the air.
Maps. Right now the maps feel too small. I'm aware they are the smaller ones of them all but large maps are part of what makes battlefield, battlefield. I'm not saying the maps are bad and having some cqb maps isn't a bad idea but it would be nice to give them some more open areas for vehicle combat. With how bad vehicle handling can be, trying to navigate tight areas is a lot of work and struggles to let them shine. Aside from vehicles, the maps being as small and tight as they are circles back to making everything feel too fast with little time or space to regroup.
Possibly minor things? The above is feedback on mainly the bigger things. One of the smaller things is the lack of a server browser is awful imo. You can't play on dedicated servers with curated map rotation. You find entirely new teammates every single game and no communities build around different servers. You are forced to end up playing the same map multiple times in a row with the possibility of playing the same side. The worst I've had it so far is breakthrough on Cairo where I played 3 or 4 games in a row on defence. It will be less likely to happen with more maps but regardless, you will play one game and the next could still all be playing defence with no side switching and entirely different teams.
Character customisation is another. Being just a beta obviously there isn't any but hopefully we can choose the gender of our characters instead of certain roles being locked to one or the other. Ive also noticed the voice lines for one gender coming from the other model.
Anyway that's most I can think of right now and I'm hoping this stuff is fixed or tweaked. It probably seems like these are all just complaints and in a way they are but I'm hoping it gives an idea as feedback to different areas that could use work. I'm still having a great time with playing with more hours than I should have. It's great to see battlefield returning somewhat to what makes it battlefield and awesome.
