Liberation Peak (Breakthrough) has terrible balancing

The first objective in particular is the culprit. It's almost impossible to take for the attackers unless the defending team is seemingly braindead.

I've seen this so many times on both the attacking and defending side. From the attacker's perspective, there isn't enough alternative routes towards the single objective. It's either going to be the hill on the right of the road that offers next to no cover, or trying to make it through the rock formations on the left of the road, which heavily favors the defending team. Going far left isn't really an option either because it takes you away from the objective and doesn't really offer a viable route.

The fact that the match begins with just a single objective to take also plays a part. As soon as two objectives are in play, the match noticeably opens up and becomes more fair. But in what feels like 70% of matches it doesn't even get this far. In practice, all attackers are funneled into a tight corridor at the start, just to be picked off from the defenders.

  • This is my biggest issue right now in the maps and modes I've played. Defending team always (nearly always) wins on Liberation Peak because the attacking team is bogged down trying to capture the first point and they just get funneled and fried. I had defended on this map about 6 times in a row and always won and, finally, last night got to play as an attacker and it was absolutely brutal. The defending team has so many good options on the first point and the attacking team is immediately under duress. Need another point to start the map or give the attacking team more vehicles/lanes.

Map works fine on conquest but need a breakthrough rework.

That's a general problem with the codification of the maps - they feel cramped, they feel small, and they feel funnely to a single kill zone. Flanking is almost non-existent, there are no strategic positions you can fight over - even on Cairo, which is somewhat better Breakthrough map, you are still pushed through a few spammable chokepoints to get to the control point. And then you sit on these chokepoints to defend them and win the match's stage.

The worst part is in that philosophy being so prevalent also in Conquest. Like Iberian, and Cairo. I wish I could just level entire blocs, or raze the control point in C and B for Iberian, D and B on Cairo, to not having to take rounds in taking over times and times again...
