My Battlefield 6 Beta Feedback - A Detailed Breakdown
My Battlefield Background for context: My first battlefield was Battlefield 3 (I traded my copy of MW3 for it). My favorite Battlefield is 4. I hit Colonel in that game on PS4 and again on PC when I finally got one. Yes I love operation Metro and Locker. I played BF1 later in its lifecycle. I did not play BFV or 2042. I hate COD.

Serious Feedback:
- Please give us the ability to cook grenades and throw back grenades thrown at you (This was a feature in past Battlefield titles).
- The parachute's horizontal travel speed once deployed is way too fast
- A players current total score should show next their name in the squad management menu (like BF4).
- The Menu's "Netflix" style UI is cumbersome and unenjoyable.
- In-game HUD could be much cleaner (BF4 as an example). Additionally I could only find re-size options for the mini-map. I hope we get a re-size slider for all HUD elements at launch.
- The spawns on Empire State Conquest mode are very frustrating and made it feel like a 64p COD TDM Mode.
- The attack helicopter appears to be made of paper mache. Dying in 1 shot to stingers isn't very fun.
- Suppression needs to be more of a detriment to aiming. A sniper should not be able to 1 shot me through a hail of bullets from my LMG. In older BF titles shooting at scope glint to mess up their aim was a viable strategy, in BF6 doing so feels pointless
- The TTK is acceptable however I experienced a multitude of a near 1-frame deaths. Netcode? Latency? Not sure but TTD feels off at times.
- I understand the RPG should NOT be a glorified explosive infantry sniper but the current splash damage is laughable. An RPG shot directly at a soldiers feet should kill them and anyone else directly next to them. Thank you videogamedunkey for the most hilarious example: link to his BF6 video
- We NEED a Test Range like BF4 to test and practice vehicles. Learning to fly and setting up controls in a live match sucks.
- SERVER BROWSER. SERVER BROWSER. SERVER BROWSER.
- Every battlefield ever has had one
- Sever browsers build communities and keep games alive long past their heyday.
- I really enjoy getting the choice to play with the same lobby. Those matches become a shared playscape, instead of a temporary gathering of strangers.
Tentative/Repeated feedback:
- As has been said 1 Billion times, the selection of maps we were shown are all small for battlefield. I had fun but I hope we see an equal variety of small, medium, and large maps in the final release.
- As has also been said, some of the guns feel very "beamy". I heard the Devs are aware so hopefully that is better in the final release.
- As has been said, the sniper glint intensity should be reduced. I also believe that any scope 4x or smaller should not produce a glint (I am still unclear if this was the case in the beta or not, or what their intention is)
- Support and Engineer classes both feel properly defined, useful, and powerful in both solo and team play.
- Assault and Recon classes feel less defined, more gimmcky (i.e. Assault is the COD class, Recon is sniper, and that's it) and very lone-wolf oriented.
- I am aware they plan on moving deploy beacon to the assault. I actually think this could work very well - I used to use Recon as a pushing class in BF4 because of spawn beacon. My only concern is what does Recon get to replace it?
Nonessential Feedback:
- I really like the idea of Proximity chat. Of course it should be toggleable but multiple times while playing I thought "man, if only I could tell my teammate there is an enemy around the corner, or that I need ammo etc." They added this option for your squad mates, perhaps we see it added for everyone?
- I would love to see flag poles brought back for at least outdoor capture points. Something about seeing the flag raise is very satisfying.
- I really enjoy the abillity to spectate friends from the main menu and I hope there will be a system for it.
- I love that this game feels and looks gritty, but I think they could tone back the de-saturation filter slightly. LevelCapGaming elaborates this point PERFECTLY in his video "The Good & The Bad - Battlefield 6 Beta Review" at 3:00
Recurring Bugs:
- Often times when I click "quit to menu" from in-game nothing happens
- I experienced a crazy visual bug where 50% of my screen would turn into flashing grey/white triangles all extending to the edges of my screen from the center. The bug would go away after 10-30 seconds and I experienced it every few matches.
Some things I love:
- The movement! Having a modern movement system where I can dive, slide, roll, & CROUCH SPRINT is AWESOME. Being able to fall on your back and start shooting is so cool. A+
- The audio! The game sounds amazing and I love being able to experiment with the different audio style presets. (War Tapes >)
- The gunplay. As I mentioned above there needs to be some balancing but overall the gunplay feels very good to me. Values can be tuned but the foundations are solid and that is what matters most.
- Overall Tone. The game feels gritty and based, whereas BF2042 felt goofy right off the bat. (Not just because of voicelines either, I couldn't stand that games hard-on for the color teal)
- Dragging revive, BANGER! How have we not had this mechanic until now?
- Gun range in the menu is awesome to finally have in Battlefield (but we still need a Test Range for vehicles!)
Final Thoughts:
- I actually don't know if closed weapons or open weapons is better. On one hand I love the classic system in old battlefields, on the other it was nice to just be able to use the gun I wanted in that moment without changing the role I was having fun with. I think most of all, I just want the classes to have defined roles and emphasize teamplay. As I mentioned above, Support and Engineer currently feel that way but Assault and Recon do not.
- My BIGGEST CONCERN for this game is post-launch content. What I, and I think we ALL want, is a grounded military shooter NOT another goofy **bleep** multi-verse riddled battle royale slot machine. The game's tone is on point so far, and the cosmetics shown are... acceptable. BUT, it needs to stay that way. There are SO MANY cool options for grounded customization from both real life and past games that there is NO EXCUSE if they screw us. (Personally I want BF4 Operators as skin options for each class)
- None of the issues I mention above are game breaking. That feels pretty great to say. I think they have an extremely solid foundation.
- Finally, and most importantly, I had a lot of fun.
Anyways, let me know what you think or if you disagree with anything! I played 40hrs and I think EA/DICE has a real gem on their hands if they listen to players and focus on what makes a Battlefield game great!
