My BF6 beta feedback

Last week I was really hyped to jump in, and overall the game did feel like a step forward from BF2042. That said, I did run into some issues, a few bugs (invisible character/weapon), plus several crashes tied to NVIDIA drivers.

After reaching level 20, here are my main impressions as someone who’s been playing Battlefield since BC2 (I’d call myself above average, but not pro):

MATCHMAKING: This was the most frustrating part of the experience. Especially during the second weekend with the sector challenge, matchmaking felt awful. I’d get 3+ defense games in a row, forcing me to quit repeatedly just to try to attack. Sometimes it dropped me into matches already ending (just like 2042). The amount of times I had to quit a game, just hoping I would attack because I knew it would probably put me on the defending team over and over again. If I tried to only play Breakthrough or Rush I couldn’t get into a game. At the end of games, matchmaking often stalled or failed, requiring me to back out to the menu to find another match. Honestly, it’s mind-blowing that there’s still no server browser with continuous servers and map rotations.

TTK and TTD: The TTK feels fine to me; however, the TTD is awful. I often got insta killed with little to no chance to react, almost like COD. Older Battlefield titles gave you at least a moment to respond and potentially come out on top, and that was part of the magic. Here, it feels rare. I also died behind cover more times than I can count.

Smokes: Smokes feel broken because of spotting. You can still kill or be killed through them by following markers. It takes away from the tactical use of smoke and just turns things into another slaughter fest.

Maps: They feel way better and more alive than 2042. But some maps boiled down to pure kill fests with little room for tactical play. I really miss the map design from BF4, BF1, and BF5, which felt larger and more strategic (with exceptions, of course). I also miss the Operations game mode; that, for me, was peak Battlefield feeling.

Rush: It just felt terrible. Too bunched together even for 12v12; those smaller maps really didn’t promote the game mode.

Destruction: It is great on Cairo, but on Peak, for example, it feels like too much. You can flatten terrain entirely, and it becomes annoying rather than immersive.

Weapons: Some felt great and others awful, but I guess that is normal for now. I really enjoyed the weapons closer to classes. I noticed bloom sometimes, where the shots were going all over except where I aimed. Maybe add a little more recoil; it felt too easy sometimes.

RPG: I think it should do more splash damage. I can literally shoot it at someone’s feet and only do 70 damage; that makes no sense to me.

Sniping: Felt amazing, but I agree the sweet spot makes it a bit easy. I would remove it and make it like BF5.

Overall, I had fun, but the experience was inconsistent. Last week I was leaning toward a pre-order, but after this weekend I’m more hesitant. The core feels stronger than BF2042, but matchmaking, TTD, and some gameplay systems need serious attention.
