My Feedback
I am very much enjoying myself playing the bf6 beta, however I have a few concerns that I hope will be addressed before launch:
- My main concern is with the classes, for which I strongly believe that we should get locked weapons. For me, the weapons available for each class has always been a core part of class identity, and with unlocked weapons the classes ultimately feel too similar to me. I understand that the goal is to give players more freedom, however I believe that too much freedom is not a good thing either. This can simply funnel players into just using the best meta gun which they could now use on all classes (imagine if bf4 had unlocked weapons and everyone ran around with an AEK). Also without locked classes carbines seem a bit pointless. Previously carbines were a reliable short-mid range option for classes without assault rifles. However now since all players can simply use ARs, you almost might as well just group all the ARs and carbines into one weapon category (because they don't really serve much of a different role in the sandbox).
- Remove weapon sweet spot, it is totally random and should not be in the game. Getting kills with it feels cheap, and getting killed by it is annoying.
- Though I typically prefer more close quarters maps (like pearl market from bf4), I think its very important for there to be some larger maps at launch for better diversity. However it sounds like this is already being addressed.
- I haven't used vehicles much but I've heard that vehicle balance/controls are very bad. Hopefully this is also fixed by launch.
- Please please please include a server browser. I understand that portal will have a server browser, however this does not include DICE official servers. I think there should be a server browser with a tab allowing to search for DICE/community (non-portal) servers, along with a tab for portal.
- As a follow-up to my previous point, I hope there will also be persistent servers (e.g. for portal). This was not the case with bf2042, so I hope it will be the case here. Additionally, servers which do not disband after a game ends (for regular matchmaking) would be nice, with a way to vote for the next map.
It is worth mentioning that I still think the game is very good, but I also think that there are a few things missing for it to be great. Here's hoping that DICE can get this one just right.
