My General Feedback and Thoughts
Lets start by saying thank you Battlefield Studios for listening to what users were saying and briglnging Battlefield to a true return to Form to what a true Battlefield Experience that me as a fan personally have come to expect for what Battlefield should feel like. This brings me right back Bad Company through to Battlefield 4 where I was heavily playing as a High-school and College student. So thank you for bringing back to these experiences I have been missing.
Now, as much as I can sing the praises that Battlefield 6 and how massive that list would be this is my feedback, and that list would be far too long. I hope no one sees this as me complaining or whining, I truly love this game already. However for the sake of brevity I will only list what I feel are negative experiences that I feel could be adjusted, improved to make the experience just that much greater experience for everyone.
Weapons
I feel the weapon balance in normal modes is all over the place and general damage for assault rifles and SMG's are far too low and I feel that the damage falls off in too short of a distance. Now personally I know a private server or hardcore server could fix this as I normally tend to stick the more hardcore modes where bullets kill and you need to use your own ears and eyes and not use any UI. So I won't say end of the world there.
The shotgun... OH BOY THE SHOTGUN. I feel the default shotgun, with the default ammo type of buckshot does way too much damage, at too far of a range, ontop of this I feel the time it takes to ready the next shot is way too quick for it to balanced fairly with the damage it can do. In my opinion I feel that the damage it does now the fall of should be a bit shorter with buckshot with a reduced reload/recock time, I really feel that it shouldnt be hitting as hard as it is until you get the flachet and Slug Rounds. That's I how feel about the shot gun, its still a fun gun to use, but it feels too powerful at the moment against everything else.
Maps
I have to say I am not impressed with the maps as a Battlefield fan, I know its a Beta and there's only 3 Maps used throughout all the modes, however none of them except Liberation Peak to me feel like a Battlefield map. They more feel like Call of Duty maps scaled up slightly and feel more fitting for 32 player servers then 64, except for Liberation Peak. However I still find issues with Liberation Peak it is the only map in the beta that uses air vehicles, but even then it feels too small for the jets to be any use. Side note I do not like the controls for flight what so ever. Has no one at Dice played games like War Thunder or Star Citizen? Now I am not saying to copy the flight models however they have implemented a virtual joystick for mouse and Keyboard flight and makes flying feel fantastic on mouse and keyboard, I am disappointed to see they haven't implemented a control option like this for flying it would greatly make flying more intuitive for first time Mouse and Key oard players. I digress from the maps though...
To summarize the maps, they feel too small and too funneled and lack any sort of open enviroment to really let vehicles shine, they feel way too condensed and tailored to CQB but even then they feel too small for good CQB encounters for player numbers of 64, again I will say I feel player numbers of these maps feel they should be more for 32 players 48 players, not 64. This is Beta though and I know there's more to come with release and with Portal, but this is how I feel about the current level design the these new maps you have introduced. Scaled up Call of Duty Maps, with extremely limited use and lanes for vehicles.
Sub-point to maps is the spawning algorithm, or spawn points. There are times where they are just terrible I have a few times now been killed to no fault of my own or through the enemies, because they spawned me right infront of them, or with their sights pointed directly at a base spawn, case in in Iberian Offensive where the base spawn next to D and E have a set of stairs where enemies can spawn camp and shoot into the spawn. This is not a great experience at all, but again is bound to happen with 64 players on these small maps.
Server Performance / Netcode
The never ending boss of networking and how to make the experience enjoyable for a everyone with a decent connection but varrying pings, I do not envy being the ones who needs to optimize for all the complexities of this game but I need to say what I need to say here.
It's good for a Beta, and much more stable then any FPS game I have played for even launch titles in its current form. However there are still many issues I find happening such as, enemies turning around killing me, unsure if they actually saw me first on their end for it to be fair. Unloading full clips into people for them to not die, but then I only hear one impact affect but the death info shows they shot me 5 times like the the server stacked all their inputs and sent them to me in a single packet. Which honestly could be the case. However this feels terrible sometimes as it also leads to running behind cover and making it to the cover, but then the server registered hits on you but sent them to you to late.
The hit registration and general performance and optimizations could just use some work which I know Beta is made to break and expose these kind of issues out when stressed test, but no matter how stable and great this is for a Beta, these issues are still coming up and present.
A fair and great battlefield depends on great net code and prediction algorithms and network smoothing, I really hope you can iron it out for launch.
Summary
I feel I have touched on all major issues that I personally feel while playing the Beta. Again, thank you Battlefield Studios, and everyone working to make the best Battlield you can achieve with modern technology and bringing the franchise to its roots. I cannot wait to play more of the Beta and cannot wait to see the game at Launch, and hopefully the improvements that come between now and then.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, even if you may not agree with it, see you on the Battlefield regardless. O7
