My honest opinion on Battlefield 6
After spending most of yesterday with the beta and completing all the challenges, what I've gathered is this. Most if not all aspects are open to change seeing as this is a beta I am well aware and I'm only giving my opinion.
Maps
The design of the maps is okay at best from what we have seen on the beta. The maps in rotation seem to be a direct response to the feedback from Battlefield 2042s maps being so huge and open and going in the direct opposite direction with small and narrow maps with a lot of clutter. This makes conquest a pretty mid experience on most maps as the vehicles have little to no impact as they are either destroyed instantly or they can't really get into the objectives.
Siege of Cairo is a really fun Breakthrough map but on conquest I feel as if it falls short on delivering that grand scale combat that Dice promises. Driving a tank here you are given 2 options. Either drive straight in and get as many kills before you are destroyed or
Iberian offensive is probably the best map on the beta. There are lanes for the vehicles to push on, they have access to most sites and it feels actually meaningful to use Tanks here. And on foot the narrow pathways give reason to run around and peek your corners.
Liberation peak is conceptually a good map but again feels like a direct response to the open maps of 2042, On a conquest map there should be some distance. When flying the heli making one strafe puts you on the other side of the map.
Game Modes
Let's start with Domination. Hit and miss for me, it does not feel like battlefield at all. Spawning is way too fast, the maps are way too small and if you don’t run a smg or shotgun you might as well go home.
Conquest locked/unlocked is conquest. The maps on the beta are way too small to give an opinion on the gamemode. But what I can give an opinion on is the locked/unlocked modes. I prefer the locked gamemode as it brings back the feeling of the old battlefield. Sadly with how the guns are as of now playing locked does not feel good. Some guns are outperforming everything else so hard that the incentive to play any other class than engineer with the smg is too low.
Breakthrough is breakthrough. Bring back rush, this whole capping points back and forth is not that fun.
Classes
The classes feel like they are moving back to their roots again, my only gripe is that yet again recon seems to have been stepped on again. I mean, seriously. Who thought giving the scopeglare that much intensity was a good idea? I am not against having the scopeglare but it should be a hint that a sniper is aiming at you, not a lit beacon for the entire map to see where they are shooting from. And Assault having two primaries and giving them the spawn beacon in future updates. They are just moving the Assault class closer to the lonewolf playstyle than away from it. Giving engineers the ability to have two launchers equipped at the same time also feels like it
Weapons
I find myself having a hard time connecting to any of the weapons in the game. Most of the weapons feel too much like a cod lazerbeam to be enjoyable. We need to go back to the feeling of the weapons from battlefield 4 where it took burstfire to get someone from a long distance. Increase the spread of the bullet pattern and for the love of god increase the damagefall of smgs. Shotguns feels very overpowered as of now but I think that is mainly because the maps are so small and narrow.
But again, this is only my opinion and Im open to discussion! Dice has done a great job so far but they are not quite there yet.
