So what is your suggestion to remedy this?
Make it so you can only spawn on the squad leader. Squads would stay together more.
Make it so only the squad leader can do a squad revive or in some other way limit the ability. Would make people more careful and slow down the pace.
Give more squad management abilities/orders. Squad members need to be able to vote out a squad leader not doing their job.
Add squad call-ins earned by doing things as a squad. These could call in vehicle drops, supply drops, artillery strikes etc.
Increase XP and score for squad activities.
Have a Highlights tab in the end of round pages and highlight squad activities.
That's just off the top of my head. There are a ton of things that have been done before and could be done now, but EA/DICE, as usual, say one thing "we're returning to form with old school Battlefield" and do what they want, which is to make players of other games as comfortable and welcome as they can at the expense of Battlefield franchise fans.

Not sure about the 2nd take but the ability to only spawn on the squad leader is a pretty interesting idea that was seen implemented in bf 2142. I think it would make the role worth more than some extra points for following orders like it is currently.
I like most of what diposalist wrote with the exception of revive for squad leader ability only. It would give a better incentive to play together or at the very least would keep them closer to each other. Like the vote leader out but it could also work if no orders are given with in a time period .
If you don't want to be leader, you don't do anything and the role will pass to someone else. I don't like being the leader so these feature would be very helpful for me.
Personally I think the pace of the game is fine. But we would need to play the bigger maps to see how that truly plays out. EA/dice have a lot of things to fine tune like Guns need better balance specially for distance, on that however I'll have to sit and wait to see what they'll do.
