i think if you unplug your controller and then just plug it back in, the haptics malfunction or something. a bit of a 'dicey', fix. eheh

I found a fix within the first few minutes of noticing this. I'm running the steam version and I just entered the steam controller settings for the game and disabled the feature for both buttons. That was it. Happy killing!

is this only possible with the DuelSense Edge or also possible with the default stock PS5 controller?

I was using a regular dualsense

Could you give a bit more detail, I am not seeing a setting for the triggers in the steam settings. Thank You.

Found a fix finally. Enable steam controller settings via right clicking the game in your library.
In the steam settings itself manually enablePlayStation controller support. ( you might see flickering of UI button between PS and Xbox)
After this my triggers went back to being normal whereas prior having it disabled in steam AND via the games properties (right click the game in library) I would have the adaptive triggers stuck on.
Side note I also have the ingame vibration settings on custom and manually have everything set to off
