Real feedback for developers
Hi everyone,
Here’s my feedback on what I thought about the Battlefield 6 Beta. I played for over 10 hours, and I have hundreds of hours in various Battlefields. I’ve been playing every game in the series since Battlefield Vietnam.
Note: This is my personal opinion based on what I experienced in the Beta. If any of these suggestions are already planned for the final game, feel free to disregard them.
1. Gunplay
1.1 The gunplay in the game is great. I believe the movement speed fits the game’s characteristics well—neither too fast nor too slow.
1.2 Weapons feel responsive. The recoil is a bit challenging, but nothing a veteran Battlefield player can’t control.
1.3 Gunfights are fun, but because of the TTK, if you get hit first, it’s very unlikely you’ll win the fight or escape alive.
1.3.1 I’m still unsure if the TTK is at the ideal point, but I think it could be increased slightly—just a tiny bit, around 5%.
2. Weapons
2.1 The weapons are very good—they feel responsive and satisfying when getting a kill. I really liked what was shown in the Beta.
2.2 I think LMG and SMG classes deserve buffs across the board, because just like in Labs and now in the Beta, Snipers, Carbines, and ARs had a big advantage in fights.
2.3 One of my main tips is to review the weapon attachments. They’re good, but it feels like many attachments are simply upgrades of the previous ones, so you’ll always use the next and never go back to the old one. My suggestion is to make each attachment have a distinct function, so none is “better” than another, but instead each fits a specific style or situation.
2.3.1 However, a warning to the devs: be careful with different ammo types that increase the headshot multiplier—mechanics like that are one step away from breaking the game.
3. Class
3.1 The classes in this game have very clear roles within a match, but I still think there’s work to be done to balance their usage.
3.1.1 Assault: I still don’t understand why it has two weapons in a single kit, but I don’t see a problem given the class’s purpose. However, I think the number of explosives carried should be limited, and players shouldn’t be able to equip two grenade launchers plus the grenade that every class gets. Other than that, the class is pretty good.
3.1.2 Engineer: The main thing to review is allowing the class to carry only one type of launcher, not both AT and AA. This would make choosing your launcher a core gameplay decision, depending on which vehicle you want to counter—just like in past games. Another point is the amount of launcher ammo: I think five rounds is too much, given how powerful they are against vehicles in this game. It makes vehicle-vs.-infantry fights a bit unbalanced.
3.1.3 Support: The only change I’d make is to the revive time of the defibrillator. You could add a small delay when reviving a teammate, as it felt a bit unbalanced in the Beta. In previous games, the same equipment had a minimal delay, but in Battlefield 6 there’s none—it’s instant.
3.1.4 Recon: I didn’t play with this class at all, so I can’t give my opinion.
3.2 In Battlefield 6, each class has passive abilities for certain weapon types, to compensate for all classes being able to use all weapons. However, I think these passives could be more rewarding—something more significant, as they currently don’t offer enough advantage to make players choose a class-specific weapon.
4. Vehicles
4.1 This is probably the area that needs the most improvement, as vehicles overall feel very weak—they die too fast considering what they represent in Battlefield.
4.2 I think the rear damage multiplier on ground vehicles could be reduced, because in some cases launchers are doing a one-shot kill even when the vehicle’s health is at half.
4.2.1 Tanks: Could have more HP and deal more damage to infantry.
4.2.2 IFVs: They’re fine as they are—if you apply my suggestion of lowering rear damage, they’d be perfect.
4.2.3 Aircraft: Possibly the ones that need the most help. Two AA shots from an Engineer are enough to take them down, and since Engineers carry five missiles, they can destroy two aircraft without even resupplying. These vehicles need buffs, and at the same time Engineers need a nerf against them, so air vehicles can at least participate in the match.
4.3 Keep in mind that in the Beta vehicles had no customization, so some of my requests might be addressed through vehicle modifiers.
I hope this feedback helps the development team, because I and the whole community have been waiting for a well-made Battlefield for many years.
