Region match making
Guys, could you help me out, maybe I'm just dumb or something. I live in Central Asia, specifically in Kazakhstan, a country between China and the Caspian Sea, with Russia to the north and other "-stan" countries to the south. I played about 8 hours of the open beta, and it feels like EA is planning to restrict players by region. Because at some point, I started getting thrown into half empty matches with 2-3 Chinese players. You can wait forever, but the match won’t start because, for example, when this happened to me, it was 6 AM in Taiwan, so there weren’t many players online. In older games, for people like me players from Central Asia who don’t quite fit into Eastern Europe or the Chinese region it was great that we could connect to Eastern or Western European servers and play with 90-120 ping. It was tough but doable. In this game, as far as I understand, there won’t be an open server search, and EA will automatically assign regions and servers? Does that mean I’m automatically stuck playing in the Chinese region because EA doesn’t think I can play in Eastern Europe? With players who are asleep when it’s evening for me and playing when it’s night for me (though it’s still morning for them). If so, why even sell the game in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, or Uzbekistan? Or am I panicking for no reason, and the portal will let us play on custom servers with progression from any region?
