REMOVE SNIPER SCOPE GLINT IMMEDIATELY

Firstly, thank you for trying to take our beloved franchise back to its core roots. You have made noticeable efforts to restore battlefields glory and it’s amazing to see. BUT.

I am really struggling to get along with the new sniper scope glint animation/visual. It isn’t balanced and ruins the immersive feel. A scope doesn’t glint in real life unless you’re stupid enough to mess the angle up against the sun.

Sniper glint is absolutely awful, but here me out.

Historically, there never was a scope glint in battlefield games, which made it fun to snipe with a squad, have a spotter, find a hide, sit back and actually work together as a fully established recon squad. Sending drones forward, spotting using binos, communicating to the team of the intel you’re spotting. You could sit there for hours (like a real sniper) spotting intel and getting good XP at the same time. Yeah you wouldn’t have a great amount of kills, but the XP made up for it slightly with spotting assists, suppression assists etc.

HOWEVER.

If you finally manage to get a map that’s big enough to justify a sniper rifle (so far the maps feel tiny for a battlefield game where driving a tank through pokey streets feels more like call of duty). If you finally get a medium sized map, I would totally avoid sniping because it’s absolutely pointless. The second you aim at someone the entire enemy team can see you from wherever they are. It’s a waste of time. But this then has a knock on affect to the balance of the game.

Less snipers because the glint is unbalanced equals more teams pushing small/medium gameplay. And renders the recon class absolutely pointless.

Then you’re making the recon skins pointless too, why would I use a ghillie suit, or play tactically if I can be seen the second I ADS? It’s such a bad idea.

The only reason sniper glint worked in call of duty was because it’s a small fast paced game. Battlefield isn’t. It’s a big, slow, long, tactical game. Slow things down. Remove the sniper glint, and allow me to sniper crawl with my spotter into a position we will ACTUALLY snipe from until the enemy uses their tactical advantages, like thermals, Helis, or tanks to come and hunt the snipers down.

Genuinely. My all time go to class is recon. But with a big marker pointing out where I am, everytime I aim, I don’t think I’d ever play recon again.

I hope someone fixes this, because it ruins the game.

    I completely agree.

I used to love recon but now the second I look through the scope I'm under extreme fire. And playing as another class when I see the glint I just ensure no line of sight. It makes sniping completely useless.

A good sniper with no glint is a fun threat that needs to be dealt with as a team. I miss hunting them down.

Its just wildy unbalanced against the recon class. Right now the only use they have is in modes without closed weapons. Grab an AR or carbine, the spotting beacon thing and hit the objective with your squad. Admittedly this is a pretty strong way to play, but only due to that one gadget.

There is supposed to be an attachment that removes glint, or ?

Sniper glint needs to be toned down, but should 100% remain. You know what really ruins for? Having a selfish sniper player in your squad who lies down at the edge of the map, miles away from any objective.

  • It wouldn't be too bad if it was the occasional glint. They copied COD back in BFV and just put a spotlight on top of anyone with a sniper scope and have essentially kept that. Makes them fairly pointless, which is why you see the COD meta of people running around using them like a shotgun. As soon as you aim. every heavy weapon and tank in the area can just destroy the building.

There is in real life (kill flash) and could be included in the optic accessory category. Currently just canted iron sights and a coating that "reduces" the cone of scope glint (so anyone relatively near the direction you aim still sees the spotlight).

Not sure why you single out sniping for that problem. Same with many vehicles and the huge percentage of people that don't understand what an objective is.
