Honestly, the claim that scope glint is the only way to balance scoped weapons in gameplay is a lazy excuse for an equally lazy mechanic that effectively not only punishes players for using a scoped ...
I agree the light on long range scopes should be removed, but I also feel that spotting should be a recon only ability.
EA, Bungie, Ubisoft and/ or Microsoft continue to push casual settings, yet don't understand why their games get passed so quickly after release. I think it's because most people don't want to be shown how to play, and just play.
Battlefield 6 has
1. Aim assistance (controller). 2. Sniper scope light effect. 3. Sniper shot smoke trails (a smoke trail that leads back to the sniper). 4. Hit markers. 5. Incoming sound direction notifications (an on-screen greyish looking icon that shows where incoming shots are coming from). 6. Automatic spotting when in range.
Did I miss anything?
I'm all for a modern themed Battlefield, but I expected a modern title to go along with it. Meaning something that I get to do, and not be told how too. That's the whole reason why BR, and/ or survival games are so popular. You just get to figure it out on yourself, and learn something to try in the next match.
Every screen I see for this upcoming title looks like someone day trading with how much info is on-screen then playing a video game.
During the Battlefield 5 early access I too had the same concerns for that title, with how many on-screen helpers it had, I created a picture to show how DICE seems to think my screen is free real estate.
BEFORE DICE
AFTER DICE
At some point you should let me people use their 👀 DICE.
Conspiracy theory: Is that why DICE always uses the eyes emoji?
That last bit had me laughing. Yeah, it definitely feels like information overload. Maybe they need to look into a more minimalist approach. But at the same time, it does kinda add to the chaos of the game, which Battlefield has mostly been about chaos.
Well we used to have MAV and flares for a reason. Spotting was never an issue in battlefield until they tried to grab the wider audience who refused to adapt to it.
Problem is the carry over from COD. They tried to entice COD players over before, which was where the jumping, sliding, scope glint, etc came from. It also caused the information overload. Remember the screams when MW2 came out with no mini map? Top COD players were calling the game unplayable, because they had to actually look for where the enemy were.
