Separate Ping From Equipment on Controller

I want to ping without pulling out my equipment. Controllers with additional buttons on the back and bumpers are becoming much more common because they're becoming more affordable. See Gamesir and 8bitdo. When I remap my ping and starting marking enemies I put my gun away and pull out a med bag. Why would anyone want those together? Is communicating through pings not enough utility for one button? I don't see why it would need a secondary use. 

If the ability to separate these things already exists it is not intuitive on how to do that which is just as good as it not existing. This ping situation is currently my only complaint with the game. Please fix this.
