Spotting mechanics and movement problems.

Spotting: For starters, the spotting system is not like previous games, unlike bf1 or bf4, in bf6 you just need to be looking at an enemy for 1 to 2 seconds, and then they have a red icon above their head (they can see the red icon through smoke....) and everyone can see them on the mini map straight away, it removes your ability to make good flanks on enemies as only 1 emeny needs to see you then you are highlighted for the whole emeny team. Now if the enemy saw you and had to physically spot you like previous games (by pressing a button) that makes sense but the new system eliminates the need to actually spot people, instead you just have to look at them and boom, they're on the mini map and they got a big red icon above their head. It incentivizes COD-like run and gun gameplay instead of moving with discretion and purpose.  Instead, the gameplay moves very similar to Call of Duty.

Movement: Now a lot of people have already said the game moves like COD, you can dolphin dive, slide, dropshot, tea bag spam and jumpshot all while aiming down sight perfectly. Thats COD movement,  not battlefield. Now of course games should evolve, that's fine, but I found myself and others running around with a shotgun jump shotting , drop shotting and diving around like we were playing a COD game. The soldiers are wearing heavy armour, yet they feel weightless. We don't want Battlefield to make a COD game, we want Battlefield-style movement and it just doesn't feel like that right now. I think a lot of people would argee, its plays like COD. Again... soldiers these days irl are wearing like 50-100 pounds of gear, yet in bf6 they are running and jumping around like a naked crack head looking for some meth. Doesn't have to be super, realistic, but it should stay true to classic Battlefield and right now it doesn't.

3D spotting should be restricted to the squad (only Recons should be able to 3D spot teamwide, and only after hovering on a target for a good while to avoid accidental ads 3D mark).

  • I found the spotting to be quite annoying as it doesn't positively affirm your spot. Sure I can see the red dot but I'm not entirely sure what it means.

For example. Is the person only spotted whilst I'm looking at them? Or does it go away once they are out of view?

I kinda like the look only mechanic, but it needs to feel like I've confirmed the spot in some way.

I think this addresses the spot spamming issue. So I'm totally down for new ways in which spotting alleviates that. I was thinking that a better solution maybe get be to use a heat map style effect. Such that combined spots from everyone contribute to a hot area on the mini map. That cools down.

So if I spot a squad of enemy players it lights up my position. They could also make the heat mechanic indicate rough direction of travel as well (i.e a couple of meters from the spot) the heat map contribution fades away.

So it would be less this is exactly where a person is on the map and more, this is the last reported sighting.

yea i argee with your suggestion, as of right now, when you are spotted on the map, you are visible to the whole team for an X amount of time (same applies to the red dot above your head), I think it's a few seconds, but you are getting spotted all the time due to everyone quickly glancing in your direction. I think the auto spot is cool, I just think only some classes i.e sniper should be capable of doing it.

So that's why I couldn't spot the enemy =))) I just kept pressing the hot key as in bf1 and bf4, but it just pinned location on the map. That was annoying for sure.

For the movement, I don't have the problem with sliding. I mean, this mechanic has been adding since bf1 and bf5 (Although I prefer the short distance sliding in bf1 over bf5).

  • I think the auto spotting is okay, but it definitely needs to be more like 5+ seconds before the enemy actually gets spotted.

  • For the auto spotting, I taught it would be more beneficial that spotted enemies positions will only show up to allies who are near the recon unit that spotted them,
