Please change the default controller mapping so that opening and closing the full-screen game map is.. well, mapped, to the same button. That way, you can open/close the map as a quick toggle of the same button, which saves cognitive load on the player, in my opinion.
go to control schemes > infantry control mapping > and change which button you want
It turns out the "Full Map" function only opens the map (on Xbox at least) so for what I was suggesting, that functionality would have to be changed to "Toggle Map" instead. There is no separate "Close Map" function that could be mapped to the same button, as far as I can tell.
