I can see where you're coming from, but I think that support being able to heal and give ammo is the better play. In BF4 it was kind of weird, the best way to put it is people picked the assault class for the guns and not really for the role. I would have games where medics would be 5 feet away from me and wouldn't even acknowledge me or put down med packs for the squad/team but would request ammo constantly. Not saying everyone was doing it, just enough to notice it and made the game a bit less enjoyable. Having the assault class as the frontline-breach and clear job and the support class healing/reviving people while also giving ammo has been more effective than before. Could be better if each class had locked class guns but it's still in beta so there's time to change it.
If DICE stick to the silly idea of no class locked weapons, then really, why would anyone choose the assault class. Just pick an AR and be Support or Engineer class every day of the week. The bodged classes in BF6 are serious school boy errors. Its almost like there hasn't been any previous Battlefield to learn from! There was absolutely no reason to re invent the wheel other than dev ego of "we are better"
