Suppression non existent? Feels a lot like COD gunplay just scaled up.

So I've gotten suppression assists but my friends and I haven't actually felt any effect from incoming suppression other than the visual blurring. No actual effect on the gunplay. Is it just us or nah? I like a lot of the new additions and I think the squad dynamics make good battlefield gameplay but the gunplay itself so far just feels a lot to me like I'm playing COD or warzone with battlefield classes and maps and that's a pretty big letdown to me. Is it just the first few weapons you unlock or something or do others feel the same?
