The smaller map design pushes all the players closer together, and the map design has a ton of flanking routes that are impossible to realistically cover unless most of your team is at the same objective. This means you're going to get pelted by multiple RPGs from multiple angles a lot more often. The smaller maps worked in Battlefield 3 on console because the player count maxed out at 24, but the 5-6+ flanking routes that lead to every objective are just a disaster that ruin the careful tactical aspect and turn it into Call of Duty.
