Experience.
Accused of cheating... well, straight day 1 of BETA, some random called me from glitchers and exploit abusers. I tried to explain to him politely that stats will be erased, and this is what the ALPHA and BETA stages are for. To test everything, even if I press a random set of keys that puts me in the air... or even teleports me through walls, lol. The game is buggy and glitchy. I sank once under the map while sitting on the wreckage of a vehicle.
The game is 2x more fun with 3 or 4 mates in the same lobby. The Battlefield has been all about 4+ more people joining the same server! It is not the case anymore. Super annoying situation for 5-6 ppl ready to play on TS3 or Discord.
The big problem with the lobby system. Only 4 max players at the same time, and the last one is being sent somewhere else, no matter if 3 or 4 are present in the same lobby. This bug has been present since 2042 was dropped and has never been addressed. This bug doesn`t occur with 2 players in the same lobby. What the actual F.
Animations.
To my knowledge, animations are fine. Crouch sliding is not too annoying and rather puts a player at a disadvantage... unless someone is sliding straight into you with a shotgun. Fast proning brings a silhouette straight to the ground instead of flying like a 2005 squirrel.
Current maps.
Liberation Peak Conquest feels a bit too cramped for 64 players. Moving the C flag further away from the centre (like 125m to the side) could fix some of the Sniping and rotational issues. Making more space for vehicular gameplay is preferred. Current maps would serve well for 32-48 players. Cairo would probably require a 6th flag at the southern part of the map. The map in Gibraltar seems fun and intense. Most of the players are suffering due to the intensity of the firefights. No time for breathing room, non-stop CQC combat like in Domination. Moreover, Engineers and Snipers would appreciate and anticipate even more transport vehicles to be blown. Cairo has serious parkour issues. I saw players on the Bridge and at the very top of a central building.
What pains me is the lack of a Smoke Launcher for the Assault Class. We currently have in BETA an incendiary and explosive grenade launcher. Launching Breakthrough without additional smoke for the Assault class is catastrophic and makes the game unplayable for the assaulting side. This is a mistake of catastrophic proportions on the side of playtests.
Weapon havoc and mayhem. TTK issues.
Weapons are completely wacky. A Shotgun is overpowered, and the DMR is just tini-mini underpowered. LMGs feel like pee-pee guns, where you have to sink into enemies, sometimes a ridiculous amount of pellets, even with controlled fire. Completely counterintuitive to my taste. Carbines... well, M4A1 seems strong, other carbines seem like dedicated bullet-sponge pellets. ARs make sense in most scenarios, but I am still not entirely convinced. Sniper Rifle feels fine. SMGs are decent, actually, and feel like I'm using an SMG. SMGs are useful in Cairo.
My take on Classes!
Assault Class.
Assault should push the frontline with the use of smoke and formidable Assault Rifles. Is there any Grenade Launcher that can be paired with an Assault Rifle underneath? Assault units should utilize more grenades, especially smoke ones - the Hand Grenade and the Grenade Launcher. Also, Assault should be equipped with more ammo for the Assault Rifle and Shotgun combo. I feel like I am out of ammo with that combo a bit too soon. Not enough explosive grenades and no smoke that comes with Grenade Launchers to make a solid push, even with Adrenaline stim-pens. If this is true, Spawn Beacon should be available for Assault. I am 100% for that. You make a push, and you decide on the starting point for the team. The Spawn Beacon doesn`t add to the team's efforts at all for the camping tent team at the hilltop. To me, not enough horsepower, no V8, still. Perhaps, Assault should restore health sooner, and other classes a tad slower.
Support.
I was sceptical about Rambo-Medic, but so far I have not had many complaints. Well. I wish for strong LMGs at the expense of mobility for additional balancing and immersion!
Engineer.
So far, so good. AT rockets are drawn a tad too fast, I feel like I killed too many players with an RPG, and tanks do not survive long enough sometimes. Perhaps 5-10% lower reload speeds and 20-30% longer time to draw a weapon to aim at the enemy??? Faster resupplies of 20% from the supply crate, it feels like ages to get enough rockets in time.
Sniper.
C4 is excellent, I wish for Claymores and some more interesting utilities. Sniper could have a disruption beacon that disrupts the minimap intel. Something that disrupts drones and loitering ammunition in the area. Same in scale and size, radio size, as a T-UGS spotting beacon.
Open weapons, I am kinda convinced.
Honestly, I am a supporter of closed weapon systems, but with traits, it might be a permanent solution. Gameplay seems granular, so I do not see much of a problem. Additional perks and buffs for class-assigned weapons are welcome in my view. I got used to open weapons, and splitting the community overall is the worst that could happen. More buffs for proper Class Trait weapons, and we are good in my opinion.
Map availability concerns.
I understand that EA/DICE has offered smaller-scale maps for presentation first, a more infantry-centric style. I was tired of the barren lands of BF2042. But it is a fatal mistake in the eyes of the veterans not to present a full-scale warfare AIRMAP or NAVAL MAP. But c`mon, lads and gents?! Please play more of the older titles - BF2 (2005), grasp the full potential of Battlefield and Commander Mode... tactical repairs, especially destructible bridges and Repair Stations.
2vs2 jets, at least 1vs1 attack heli, 2vs2 tanks, 1vs1 IFV, 1vs1 AA, 4vs4 transport vehicles. We have not played any map of the size of BF3 and 4 Conquest Map! This is a huge downplay!!! I asked for INFANTRY-focused maps without aerial vehicles, except for let`s say Black Hawks, a few tanks, and APCs -VERSUS- AIRMAPS with a ton of ground vehicles and 2vs2 jets, even two-seated jets. AIRMAPS and NAVAL MAPS, where are you now...
There is none of the second category. The Liberation Peak feels way off for the proper utilization of vehicular gameplay. You may extend or place some flags further away, like one flag. Make 2 or 3 flags close to one another, and 3 scattered a bit further away. All the flags do not have to be clumped or clustered in perfect space and alignment for the love of merciful god.
Vehicles.
Vehicular balancing. Non-existent for Aerial and Anti-Aircraft vehicles, as for BETA. Tanks and IFVs seem okay.
UI.
Honestly, even BF2 from 2005 is more neat and in my opinion, BF3 and 4 do it better. What are the icons of classes? Seems like a futuristic concept for 2143 rather than a modern scenario. Assault is fine, but for Engineer, I would prefer Wrench, Support, normal Plus icon please, Sniper... ehh simple crosshair icon. Why do we have to make life more complicated? No mini-map size adjustment, and I cannot change the zoom on the minimap with the N button??? Are we going through the same pains again? No icon of the Squad leader by the names of players in the same lobby? Why is the Squad Leader not present at the top of the member list on the UI? Does Squad Leader possess additional abilities? Why is there no LETS MOVE option/line available under the Q wheel? Do I have to get out of the tank and kick it to move further, or shout to the mic?! Too many things were done wrong in BETA, or were simply unfinished/not ready.
Final thoughts.
If DICE could address some of the BETA balancing issues, then for sure, BF6 will become one of my favourites. Without rentable persistent servers, absolutely no chance to become the best BF. I want more than 3 other mates to join the same server. How about combined 2 lobbies 4+4? or 4+ and lower to join a server? This could solve a problem, at least for me and my mates. Rentable server is another long essay. So far, not bad.
